15 Antiques We Love This Month

Each month we aim to take the hard work out of finding the best antique pieces. From a pair of cane chairs to a marble-topped commode, here’s what we’ve spied in the online marketplace recently...

FURNITURE

Wicker Chairs, £260

These two cane easy chairs are in good vintage condition and would look great in a variety of places around the home. As with any vintage item, there will be signs of wear and tear, but there is so much character and style in the design.

Cane Stools, £640

This pair of mid-century cane stools is in exceptional condition, and would be a pretty and interesting addition to a kitchen. Comfortable and with lovely detail, they would add a vintage touch instantly.

Glazed Cabinet, £750

This wooden, glazed cabinet has been repainted with a matt wood paint to the exterior, and has a natural pine interior with three chunky shelves. Newly glazed doors and locks have been fitted. The cabinet frames are up to 100 years old, so do show signs that they have had a life.

French Commode, £3,500

An excellent-quality, late 18th-century Directoire Commode from France. It has three drawers, fluted and reeded column sides, brass cornering, brass banding and drop brass handles, as well as its original grey marble top.

Carved Chair, £1,750

This unusual carved limewood rope-twist barrel-back armchair, in the style of Fournier, has been reupholstered in oatmeal hessian. It would give a sitting room a real wow factor.

Demi-Lune Tables, £750

This pair of 19th-century demi-lune console tables is made from fine-quality mahogany. The tops have a reeded edge above a plain freeze, with an astragal moulding applied to the lower edge. Each leg retains its original mahogany garters.

Lathback Armchair, £395

Dating to 1890-1920, this Morris & Co Arts & Crafts Cotswold fireside armchair was made for Liberty London. With a Charles Rennie Mackintosh-style high back and a cane seat, its standout feature has to be the charming wavy back struts. In good vintage condition.

Fishtail Armchair, £685

This beautiful Napoleon III high-backed fishtail armchair is so elegant. It would work well as an everyday chair or a decorative corner piece. The frames and springs have been fully restored and Tallboy Interiors will reupholster in a fabric of your choice.

Faux Bamboo Chairs, £550

These decorative faux bamboo chairs would look great either end of a dining table, at a desk or in the corner of a bedroom. Expect the usual wear and tear for a vintage piece, but it doesn’t detract from the interesting design.
