Fearne Cotton Shares Her Festive Edit & Styling Tips
The Preparation
Preparing my home for the festive season is one of my favourite things to do with family and friends. I’ve found I’m able to create a unique and joyful space that is true to my style with pieces on eBay, as I like to choose decorations and homeware that have a meaning behind them. How heart-warming is it to know your Christmas decorations were part of someone else’s traditions before they came into your home? Plus, you get to continue the story with your own family; I just love it. I think everyone should add a little bit of pre-loved magic to their home – especially as it’s usually much better value too, something a lot of families are going to be conscious of this year.
The Dining Table
Setting the table for a festive dinner party with friends is the first step to making memories, and where you can inject one-off touches to make your guests feel more at home. Comfort is key over a long Christmas meal so wishbone dining chairs are ready at the dining table, complemented by green glassware and a gold five-piece cutlery set to finish off the festive set-up.
*Fearne’s Tips To Create The Perfect Christmas…*
Prioritise thoughtful gifting. Spread joy this festive season and show someone how much they mean to you with a unique gift that has real thought and effort behind it. Buy your gifts from small businesses to find one-of-a-kind items that have meaning behind them.
Go cosy. Christmas calls for hibernation, so make sure your space is as inviting as possible. Use vintage candle and tealight holders to create a festive haven.
Start new traditions. It’s never too late to start a new tradition. One of my favourites is to buy an extra decoration for the tree every year – that way, it holds all the memories of Christmases past. I usually go for something vintage or pre-loved.
Set the table in style. Don’t limit your decorations to just the Christmas tree – continue spreading the festive spirit through your table settings, too. Add greenery to the centre of the table and match the colours of your plates with your chairs and cutlery.
Embrace colour & creativity. If there’s a time to experiment with colour and creativity, it’s Christmas. Use a variety of shapes and patterns, and add pops of colour through bright rugs and pillows.
