Pale schemes like this one from interior designer Kitesgrove can seem easy to plan, but achieving balance and harmony in an open-plan living area requires vision and flair. We asked Kitesgrove MD Sophie Coller why this room works as an interesting yet restful space.

Our goal with this project was to create a home that felt like it had come together over time. The furniture from mixed eras (one-off antiques to contemporary classics) and the eclectic artwork (specially commissioned paintings to tribal sculpture) help create a multi-layered aesthetic steeped in narrative.
