When we decided our show set was ready for a redesign earlier in the year, we turned to Henry Prideaux – one of our favourite interior designers. Here, we can show you how Henry and his partner Amy created the perfect scheme for us – and reveal the individual pieces you can get for yourself…

The Brief

The basement space we use for filming the show is fairly limited with a low ceiling, and the angle on camera is quite tight, so it was key to get as much detail in shot as possible within a design that allowed the guests’ clothes to be the focus, rather than letting the interior become overpowering. The set is divided into two areas: the Main Space with a sofa for guests and an armchair for the host; and the Interview Space with a pair of armchairs for more intimate conversations. The spaces needed to be connected within a coherent design, so for this brief Henry used a tonal scheme that captured the SheerLuxe aesthetic.

The Design

The delicately orchestrated scheme features contemporary furniture with subtle moments of interest from contrasting materials such as marble, velvet, linen, and tactile decorative trims. All of this is set against a backdrop of two-tone painted panelled walls. These were decorated using multi-layered structural wallpaper in the Main Space, and an elegant silk and linen curtain to dress the painted wall in the Interview Space – each area further defined with a large textural rug. The soothing tonal palette creates an inviting space that embodies ‘Laidback Luxe’ – the name Henry devised for the scheme.

Main Space

Ben Whistler

Ben Whistler designs exceptional quality furniture specified by some of the world’s most respected interior designers. Founded in 1999 by brothers Ben and Sebastian de Groot, it specialises in upholstery and cabinetry for commercial and luxury residential settings – and is normally one of the best-kept secrets of interior designers. But its new Blue Label collection is available to all, and we highly recommend a visit to its Chelsea design studio on Lots Road.

Fox Linton

This quintessentially British luxury home furnishing brand is known for its opulent textiles, suitable for curtains as well as light and heavy-duty upholstery. Its collections of durable fabrics are predominantly made from the finest natural materials. Often in neutral colour palettes, its fabrics are woven by some of the best mills in the UK and Europe. We love the warm-toned velvet that makes Ben Whistler’s sofa irresistible.

Teyssier

Inspired by her own archive of textiles and ledgers, Kate Teyssier creates furnishing fabrics that reflect her deep understanding of design and colour. Based in her Essex design studio, Kate works closely with family run heritage printing and weaving mills, developing techniques to produce her individual textiles. Our sofa cushion fabric was designed by Kate after a visit to Florence, where she was inspired by fabulous bargello fabrics. ‘Firenze’ is woven at a mill in England, and the Lucia colourway we’ve used is inspired by Italian ice-creams.

With a mutual love of modern and timeless interiors, their goal is to give clients a tailored and unique design experience, with comfort and quality at the heart of their schemes. We love their fabric and furniture collection, and this choice is a perfect balance for its dramatic neighbour.
