Interiors: Get The Look

Interiors: Get The Look

When it comes to designing restful and relaxing interiors, Laura Butler-Madden is something of an expert. For this Cotswold cottage, she combined calming colours with natural materials to create the ideal cosy living space. Here’s how she did it and how you can get the look…

The Materials

“I love using natural textures and soft colour palettes as the background for all my designs,” Laura explains. “Meanwhile, the sisal floor really compliments the beautiful Cotswold stone spiral staircase on the other side of the room.”

The Colour Palette

“I wanted to keep the space as light and fresh as possible, as the cottage has small proportions and quite low ceilings. We chose Pointing by Farrow & Ball for both walls and the cabinetry. I do love hints of monochrome and found the sofa from Meli Meli. Then, we added hints of green and coral to bring out some colour and warmth.”

The Finishing Touches

“We work with artist Kristin Gaudio Endsley on all of our projects, and for this one, we commissioned her to paint something that would pull all the colours of the scheme together. We also wanted to hide the television – I never like them to be visible or central in any scheme.”

We added hints of green and coral to bring out some colour and warmth.
