Skincare Brand To Know: Garden of Wisdom

We love a beauty bargain as much as the next person, especially when it comes to skincare. Thankfully, there are now more affordable options than ever before on the market. But nothing is delivering quite as much skin satisfaction as SL’s brand of the moment, Garden of Wisdom. After recently discovering a shared love for it in our office, we thought we’d let you in on this game-changer…

Tell us more…

When a brand gets 5* ratings on just about every beauty site imaginable, we take note. And when we see seriously impressive results for ourselves, well, we go out and clear the shelves. The premise of Garden of Wisdom (it’s become so cult its also known as GOW), is simple: dubbed The Ordinary’s natural equivalent, the formulas have minimal ingredients, allowing the actives to get to work properly. The pH of the acids have been adjusted too so they don’t irritate the skin, yet still perform their roles of exfoliation while enhancing collagen.

How long has it been around?

Longer than we even knew! The pros have been making these formulations for over a decade. The products are potent and cruelty free without common skincare additives such as alcohol, silicones or soya. While it’s not technically new, 2019 is very much about brands with easy-to-follow skincare instructions which skip any science speak, making GOW feel very much of the moment.

So, what’s the damage?

It’s very minimal thanks to its thrifty price points. Prices start at just £9 – like brands NIOD and The Ordinary, it’s stripped back skincare in both cost and contents.

What are the bestsellers?

Standouts include the Niacinamide Serum – a lightweight texture designed to penetrate skin effectively and regulate sebum (oil) activity, helping to prevent any breakouts. We love the Salicylic Acid too, which exfoliates, cleverly targeting inflammation and acne scars. It also improves skin tone and texture within days. One SL member is such a fan, she said it’s the only salicylic that’s made any noticeable different to her complexion.

Who’s it for?

Thanks to its natural and gentle approach, GOW is suitable for even the most sensitive skin, as well as those prone to spots, dryness and hyperpigmentation. City-dwellers will be pleased to hear the range includes a potent Vitamin C + Ferulic Acid Serum. This works to brightens dull complexions while protecting them against free radical damage caused by pollution and UV exposure.

Where to buy?

It’s owned by Victoriahealth.co.uk so you can find the full range there, including a breakdown of the products, as well as suggested regimens. You’ll also notice they’re not just about serums – on the site you will find a whole host of nourishing oils. We recommend trying the Argan oil which heals dry, winter skin with a nourishing dose of vitamin E.

Anything else to note?

The proof is in the results with this brilliant, unassuming brand. But if you don’t believe us, take a look at some of the incredible reviews on go-to site Reddit. Some testers have even claimed they would never switch to any skincare that’s not GOW, which is real testament to this brand’s streamlined approach.
