The Beauty Insider: The Joy Of Multi-Tasking Make-Up
If there’s a way to get an extra ten minutes in bed, I’ll find it. Multi-use make-up is one of my many tricks. Others include laying my clothes out the night before, going for straight hair rather than curly, and moving to a house opposite the train station. True story. Not only can multi-use make-up products take the fuss out of the application, they can also help you save a couple of quid. If your blusher can be used as lipstick, it’s kind of like a buy one get one free scenario, right? And who doesn’t love a bargain?!
First things first, you probably have multiple items in your make-up bag already that can be used in other places than advertised. I learnt from a young age from my wonderful nan Doris, that lipstick on your cheeks can look lovely. The main thing about buying specific multi-use products is that they are tested for those areas of the face. You see, most brands wouldn’t test a lipstick on the eyes, or a blusher on the lips, and we have different types and thicknesses of skin on the face. So, with these multi-purpose beauties, you know you’re safe. Here are my favourites.
Elemis Total Glow Bronzing Moisturiser
What is it? A moisturiser and gradual tanner.
As with most gradual tanners, this product is genius. However, I love this one because it has all the goodness of Elemis skincare and gives you a gradual, even tan in your sleep, even if just chuck it on any old way like I do. Plus, you don’t get orange fingers – still not quite sure how that works, but I’m certainly not going to question it. I find that having a hint of colour on my skin also means that I need to apply less make-up in general.
Giorgio Armani A-Blush
What is it? A lip and cheek tint.
Tints are a great way to add a pop of colour and this one is beautiful. It’s buildable and gives you a natural, healthy flush of colour with little effort.
MAC Strobe Cream
What is it? A cream illuminator that can be used anywhere and everywhere.
This cult classic is dreamy. It can be used under foundation, applied as a highlighter, and even applied on arms, legs and décolletage for a soft, radiant shine. You can guarantee that this product is in every make-up artists kit.
So, they are my favourite multi-use, time saving products. I hope they help to give you the extra few minutes in bed that we all deserve.
Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek
What is it? A lip and cheek stick with a glossy finish.
I adore these sticks. They are so easy to use, come in a great selection of shades and give a dewy, hydrated finish. I adore the shade Perk for a pop of coral colour.
Nars Multi-Use Glosses
What is it? An illuminating gloss that can be used anywhere.
I love these babies. I’m all about a glow and the great thing about this product is you can use on eyes, cheeks and lips. It can lift the look of your entire complexion, whilst also adding a gorgeous glossy texture.
Rosie For Autograph Star Struck Lip & Cheek Colour
What is it? A cream blusher that can also be used on the lips
This is a great ‘on the go’ product. It’s super creamy making it easy to blend. And the matching cheek and lip colour really complement each other.
Pixi Glow Mist
What is it? A hydrating spray and a setting spray.
This is Pixi’s most iconic product for a reason. You can use it before make-up to hydrate the skin, half way through the day, over make-up to refresh. Plus, it sets your make-up in place. It has 13 natural oils in it which help to protect and moisturise your skin too. This is a true ‘double duty beauty’ product.
Love & lipstick,
