9 New Brunches To Book This Weekend

9 New Brunches To Book This Weekend

We’re always on the hunt for a new weekend brunch spot. From a Melbourne-meets-London menu to a restaurant offering a taste of the French Riviera, here are nine great spots for fresh inspiration…

Brother Marcus, Spitalfields

Known for its popular brunch spots in Balham and Angel, Brother Marcus has opened its third and largest site in Spitalfields Market, serving signature breakfast plates such as the ‘Step Sister’ with sweet potato, courgette and feta fritters, avocado, kale, turmeric yoghurt and a poached egg; and the ‘Brother Special’ with beetroot-cured salmon, scrambled eggs and chargrilled tenderstem broccoli on sourdough. Wash everything down with a ‘Brother Mary’, a take on the classic cocktail, drawing inspiration from the eastern Mediterranean by using ouzo and dried molokia (Egyptian spinach) with aleppo chilli for the rim.

Dandy, Bermondsey

Dandy opened the doors to its new site on Maltby Street in December. On Saturdays and Sundays, the restaurant feeds Bermondsey’s brunch and Sunday lunch crowd, with a generous all-day offering spanning ox cheek ragu and egg; breakfast burger with dripping; egg fried rice with kimchi and lamb belly; beer-braised pannage pork cheeks; and salt-baked celeriac with chermoula and charred tomatoes. Dandy has a spotlight on beer, working closely with local and independent brewers from Bermondsey’s ‘beer mile’ and beyond, while the wine list is made up of a list of small producers and distributors.

Folie, Soho

Soho’s Folie has just launched a new weekday breakfast and weekend brunch. Head chef Christophe Marleix has brought a taste of the Riviera to the kitchen’s early morning dishes including scrambled eggs with sea urchin, served in the sea urchin shell; a twist on the croque-monsieur with chicken and basil; plus classics such as eggs benedict and eggs royale. For something a little sweeter, there’s granola with coconut yogurt, a selection of buttery pastries and french toast with salted caramel and vanilla ice-cream.
