Beauty Brand To Know: FLOWER Beauty

From Drunk Elephant to Milk, lately we’ve been spoilt for choice with cult beauty launches travelling across the pond. And it’s not stopping anytime soon because this month sees US beauty brand FLOWER Beauty, make its UK debut.

The brainchild of award-winning actress, mother and entrepreneur, Drew Barrymore, who, having quite literally grown up on a film set, knows more than a thing or two about make-up. Drew brings her years of experience to FLOWER, with a mission to boost women’s self-confidence and make them feel good in the skin they're in.

With an edited selection of products that includes a light-infusing foundation, a strong setting spray, high-pigmented lip colours and a skin elixir (an Insta-worthy sparkly gold liquid) that has sold out three times and currently has 4,000 people on the waiting list, this is everything but showbiz, but, instead a no-nonsense brand promising luxury at purse-friendly prices.

To tell you more about FLOWER Beauty, SL spoke to the real Charlie’s Angel and Hollywood royalty, Drew Barrymore.

What inspired you to create Flower Beauty?

I’ve always been a beauty junkie probably because I virtually grew up in a make-up artist’s chair. I had just come off a 6-year contract with CoverGirl and had this amazing education in mass make-up. At the same time, I was approached by a major mass retailer in the US about bringing an exclusive brand to them, but they wanted an elevated experience as far as formulations, packaging and look and feel…so a prestige product at a mass price. I loved the idea and jumped at it.

What’s your favourite hero product in the range and why?

I cannot live without our Supernova Celestial Skin Elixir. It seriously does it all! Primes, perfects, smooths and hydrates…all with the fresh-faced glow. I use it every day and it’s a must have in my make-up bag. My make-up has honestly never looked better.

What’s your beauty routine?

It depends on the day, but I do love to give my skin a rest from all the long days of shooting. If I’m at home with the girls, I’ll try to keep it really simple and stick to skincare and a drop of our skin elixir. If I have ten minutes to do my own make-up then I’ll apply a pump of our Light Illusion Liquid Foundation with my hands, a little mascara to open my eyes and lastly throw on a bright lipstick and blush to add some colour.

What’s your go-to FLOWER Beauty product to create a quick day to night time look?

Lately, my Mix N Matte Lip Duo in the shade Red velvet. It’s the perfect universal red shade and such a quick way to bring your look from day to night. It’s dual-ended so you can easily play with different finishes.

What’s your biggest make-up faux pas?

Honestly, I believe make-up should be fun- no rules apply! You should play around and embrace different looks. Some looks may look better than others, but who cares?

Which celebrity’s make-up do you admire and why?

I always admire Lady Gaga’s make-up, she really takes risks and I always look forward to seeing what creative look she wears next.
