The Best New Beauty Buys For March

Heated gua sha tools, silky highlighters, chic make-up and a new fragrance brand – here are the latest beauty buys we love this month…

All products on this page have been selected by our editorial team, however we may make commission on some products.

COVETABLE, SLICK MAKE-UP

Live Tinted Hueglow, £32

It’s a bold statement, but this might be one of the best highlighters we’ve ever tried. Bridging the gap between skincare and make-up, its thin texture allows for seamless coverage and an even blend, while the pigment is incredibly brightening, with tiny shimmer particles that reflect the light beautifully. Wear it on its own, or underneath or over the top of foundation for more of a 3D look. Buff it onto the body, too, as the darker tone will help to sculpt and define a little. It’s brimming with sustainably sourced squalane (not from a shark’s liver) to hydrate and nourish skin, too. A must-try.

MILK Make-Up Color Chalks, £14

You only have to look at these new Colour Chalks to see why they already have a waiting list. Portable and reusable, the multi-purpose tubes are full of rich, shimmer-y pigment that can be used on the eyes, lips and cheeks. The texture is quite sheer, too, so you can build them up easily for a bolder finish, or dampen them with a beautyblender for more iridescent shine. We love the suits-all shade ‘Hopscotch’, but plan on stocking up on at least three shades to mix and match.

Available At CultBeauty.com

Vapour Velvet Glow Foundation, £45

Vapour is the new all-natural beauty brand to know. From the entire range, this glow-giving base stands out. Formulated with macadamia and jojoba oils, the velvet-y texture is easily buildable and provides light to medium coverage. You’ll find it goes the distance, too, lasting most of the day with zero sliding or flaking – plus, the matte dry down means it doesn’t budge. Anyone that likes a ‘barely-there’ finish will love how this feels and looks.

Available At Naturismo.com

Gucci Beauty Stylo Contour des Yeux, £24

Eyeliners don’t get much chicer than this. Not only is the pink packaging pleasing, but the shades are also fun, wearable and creamy. There’s something to suit everyone, but we love the reddish pink and muted grey for something a little different. Scribble them all over the lids, or subtly line the eyes and blend the formula outwards – whatever way you wear them, you’re guaranteed extra definition and enhancement. A great way to try more colour, without looking too theatrical.

Available At Selfridges.com

Maybelline Lifter Gloss Plumping Hydrating Lip Gloss, £8.99

Healthy lip tints are having a moment, but it can be hard to find ones that perform on a budget. Cue Maybelline’s new Glosses, which offer hydration, long-lasting colour and a healthy sheen that’s both plumping and flattering. Hyaluronic acid is the hero ingredient for speedy moisture, while the soft, neutral shades work for every skin tone. Expect a minimal – but impactful – finish which is great for the daytime.

INNOVATIVE SKINCARE

Charlotte Tilbury Super Radiance Resurfacing Facial Exfoliator, £52

It’s been a while since Charlotte Tilbury launched anything new in skincare, so you can imagine the buzz when this new exfoliator dropped. Dubbed a ‘facial in a tube’, it’s a 20-minute treatment which uses glycolic, salicylic and agave acids to purge clogged pores and dissolve dead skin cells. The result? Smoother skin with a bouncier feel and dewy appearance. It’s incredibly satisfying to use, and over time, you’ll gradually see scars, dark spots and uneven texture improve. Added aloe vera and allantoin also mean irritation is kept at bay, so sensitive skin types can try it without fear of a reaction.

COOLA Refreshing Water Cream, £39

Whether your skin is thirsty, dull, or in need of some protection, this lightweight cream ticks all the boxes. Using coconut water and hyaluronic acid, it drenches your complexion with moisture, while the powerful SPF50 keeps skin in check throughout the day by forming a shield against blue light. Above all, the texture is extremely comforting, too. Refreshing to apply, the formula sinks in fast, and never interferes with any products that follow. It’s free from silicones, too, so you never have to worry about clogging up your pores.

Available At Revolve.com

Mawena Rose Bamboo Moisturising Floral Essence, £65

Stressed-out skin types will love this gentle mist that instantly soothes and hydrates. Made with all-natural ingredients, it’s rich in protective antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. Plus, added aloe vera helps to keeps skin soft, too, while also balancing out your pH levels so inflammation doesn’t flare up. Spritz a little on post-cleanse to tighten your skin and pores, or mist it on throughout the day to refresh your make-up.

L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Pure Retinol Deep Anti-Wrinkle Night Serum, £24.99

This is one of L’Oréal’s biggest launches for 2021 and it’s easy to see why there’s so much hype. Using a high percentage of pure retinol, this silky serum was designed with efficacy and results in mind. The studies are impressive, too, with over 100% of women claiming their skin looked smoother and more refined post-use. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, it counteracts any harsh effects of the vitamin A, so you don’t need to worry about inflammation. Incorporate this into your evening regime, using it once a week to begin with, and gradually building up usage over time. You only need a few drops – either applied alone or mixed into your moisturiser. Great for novices, or anyone wanting to up the ante in their regime.

SUITS-ALL POLISH

Dior Polish in Red Smile, £22

Typically, red nail polishes aren’t one-size-fits-all. Many classic shades have bright undertones that aren’t flattering to all skin types – especially those with paler complexions. Dior’s latest shade, ‘Red Smile’ has, however, filled the void. With an orange-y (almost coral) hue, it’s incredibly versatile, with a high-shine finish that looks clean, chic and sophisticated. It’s bright, without being too bright, and rich without looking too full-on for daytime – put simply, it’s a worthy addition to your existing collection. Wear it with short, rounded nails for an on-trend look.

NEW-SEASON FRAGRANCES

Armani SI EDP Intense, £84

Armani have recently updated their iconic ‘Si’ fragrance with warmer, sophisticated notes. It has all the same qualities as the original, just with a more intense, deep dry down that lingers on the skin for hours. Blackcurrant, rose and patchouli come together for a scent that straddles potency and femininity, beautifully. It’s ideal for evening wear, but soft enough to be spritzed on throughout the day, too. A must-try for those who like their perfumes on the floral side.

Available At Boots.com

Fugazzi Fragrances, From €45

More than just pretty packaging, Fugazzi Fragrances are one-of-a-kind, combining the kind of notes you wouldn’t traditionally see together. This only makes the fragrances more unique and androgynous. It’s hard to choose a favourite as they’re also so quirky and addictive, but Saint Remy is particularly uplifting, thanks to notes of pink peppercorn, juniper berries and sandalwood.

HAIRCARE ESSENTIALS

Sienna Naturals Untangled Conditioner, $22

No matter your hair type, this rich conditioner is guaranteed to hydrate, seal split ends and minimise frizz. A great all-rounder, it’s brimming with softening aloe vera, nourishing baobab oil and shine-boosting pataua oil. Great for bringing lank, lacklustre hair back from the brink, it can be used weekly as a deep conditioning treatment, or every other day for a hit of moisture. As it’s free of silicones and parabens, it’s especially good for those using bleach or with highlights. You’ll find it detangles knotted strands too, making hair more manageable and easy to style.

Available At SiennaNaturals.com

Living Proof Moisturising Curl Shine Oil, $30

Whether you want to hydrate dry curls or define their shape, this silicone-free oil will help. Designed to be used wet or dry, we recommend slathering it on before stepping into the shower to boost shine, moisture and manageability. Unlike others on the market, it isn’t sticky and absorbs fast, so you’re never left with that feeling that your hair is weighed down. A small amount is great for taming flyaways and baby hairs, too.

Available At LivingProof.com

Act + Acre Cold Processed Scalp Renew, $32

Facials for the scalp are big in 2021 and our go-to has to be this one from Act + Acre. Gel-based, it deeply exfoliates the scalp and balances out excessive oiliness for lighter, bouncier hair. Regular use will also stimulate blood flow in the scalp to promote better growth, but also provide relief to dry and inflamed scalps. Added salicylic acid works to remove product build-up, while peppermint adds to the luxury feel, complete with a satisfying tingle. Expect strands to feel lighter, bouncier and shinier post-use.

TOOL TO TRY

Solaris Laboratories NY It’s Lit LED Gua Sha Facial Massager, $85

This clever device earns consistent five-star ratings for good reason. A three-in-one tool, use it as you would a normal gua sha, but with the added benefits of pulsing vibration, heat mode and red LED light. Sweep it around the skin – apply a serum first for extra slip – focusing on the cheekbones, around the eyes and jaw to release tension and boost lymphatic drainage. You won’t see results imminently, but with regular use you’ll notice skin looks more lifted and radiant, with fresher blood brought to the surface every time. It’s also great for de-stressing, as the warm temperature works to relax knotted muscles and de-puff.

LUXURIOUS BODYCARE

Le Labo BAIE 19 Shower Gel, £38

Le Labo’s BAIE 19 is one of our favourite fragrances of all time, so we were thrilled to see the brand has now launched it as a body wash. Notes of patchouli, juniper berries and musk make for quite a masculine smell that’s heady, rich and a little bit peppery. Like all their shower gels, the fragrance lingers on the skin for days afterwards, so if you can’t afford the usual perfume, it’s a great way to try the scent at a fraction of the price.

Available At HarveyNichols.com

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Dream Body Cream, £25

Dry, flaky limbs are no match for this whipped body cream. Harnessing the benefits of hydrating watermelon extract, the rich formula gets to work putting moisture back into the skin. What’s really impressive though, is that it exfoliates the skin as it goes. Buffing AHAs gently skim the skin, removing dead cells and dry patches for a brighter, more luminous surface. Massage it into skin post-shower when it’s still warm – as this is when your limbs will absorb it best.
