Brand Founder Tiffany Salmon Shares Her Little Black Book

As the founder of beauty brands Scientia and GlowHub, Tiffany Salmon has plenty of insider knowledge worth tapping up. Regularly road testing the latest treatments and products on the market, it’s safe to say what she doesn’t know about the cosmetics industry – a world she’s worked in for more than 15 years – isn’t worth knowing. Here, she shares the names and places she relies on time and again.

THE HOLT SPA

For A Go-To Treatment…

The Signature Facial at The Secret Spa in Holt is my favourite. Not only is it amazing for your skin, it comes with the most incredible hand and foot massage – one and a half hours of pure and utter bliss.

For A DIY Facial…

I’m a huge fan of facial steaming. It helps to soften the debris on the skin, as well as any remaining product – think serums – that might be stuck inside your pores. Once you’ve steamed, your skin feels so much smoother and you’ll find everything absorbs so much better. Plus, it boosts circulation for an instant glow. I like to pair it with facial rolling – done right, it can reduce tension in the face, while stimulating blood flow and taking down puffiness.

THE VAIN SALON

For A Cut & Colour…

The ‘Vain’ hair salon in Chester is my go-to. Billie does my colour and Georgina does my cut. They only come as a pair, and the results are always spot on.

For A Favourite Fragrance…

Anything by Byredo. My holy grail is Rose Of No Man’s Land.

Rose of No Man's Land Eau de Parfum, £122 - £178 | Byredo

For DIY Hair Remedies…

The Olaplex treatments and shampoos have been gamechangers for me. After having my daughter, my hair at the front snapped off about an inch from the root due to post-partum hyperthyroidism. It’s been a real journey getting my hair back to where it is now. Olaplex works to repair broken bonds and rebuild damaged strands, and I love Redken’s Extreme Anti-Snap Treatment, too, for when my hair is feeling quite dry.

No. 3 Hair Perfector, £26 | Olaplex

For Fluffy Brows…

I swear by a good lamination treatment and go to Beautifix in Cheshire for mine. I’m definitely a natural, bushy brow kind of girl. Sometimes, I’ll use a small amount of castor oil from our lab in the evenings, too. It really works to condition and encourage a bit of natural growth.

For Anti-Ageing…

Consistency is key when it comes to anti-ageing. I’m all about the basics and good habits. That said, there are a few ingredients I swear by. In my own skincare, I tried to include the ingredient Matrixyl 3000 across the entire Scientia range. It’s known to boost collagen production, as well as target the appearance of fine lines and pigmentation for a brighter, more hydrated complexion. I also love Bakuchiol. A natural alternative to retinol, it triggers the renewal of collagen, strengthening your skin’s foundation and in turn, minimising fine lines. You’ll find it in my Scientia Dusk Elixir.

Dusk Elixir, £32 | Scientia

For Thorough Exfoliation…

The Dermalogica Powder Exfoliator is always on my shelf. It’s gentle enough to use daily and it leaves my skin super soft and radiant.

Daily Microfoliant, £51 | Dermalogica

 For Repeat Purchases…

I tend to use a lot of my own skincare. I couldn’t tell you how many bottles of Scientia Notox I’ve been through. A little pink powerhouse, it’s supercharged to lift, plump and brighten your eye area. It has an amino acid peptide complex to mimic Botox and I’m always proud of the results it yields. Aside from my own products, I love Augustinus Bader’s The Cream. This is my all-time favourite moisturiser. It’s pricey, but my skin soaks it up. It’s hydrating without being greasy and it works to stimulate your skin’s natural renewal process for a smoother appearance.

The Cream, £205 | Augustinus Bader

For Unwinding At Night…

The bath and body care from Soak Sunday is a must for me – especially the Botanical Bath Soaks. Each one has a unique story and concept with soothing scents and dried petals to offer some on-the-spot grounding. My go-to is Rose Utopia – it’s full of lavender, rose, sage and geranium to help relax and indulge both body and mind.

For Niche Purchases…

I’m a big fan of the Liberty Beauty Hall – who isn’t? They support some incredible indie brands and are always ahead of the curve.

For Good Glow…

Outside of skincare, the Everly Vitamins are amazing and so easy. You take the free, five-minute consultation and a curated vitamin selection is delivered directly to your door. They’ve taken personalisation to the next level, and they come in a cute pouch with your name on. My Scientia Green Supreme CBD Vegi-Tox Serum is game-changing too – if I do say so myself. It’s a gorgeous thick serum that gives a speedy glow, thanks to a combination niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and avocado oils.

For Popular Trends To Know…

Postbiotics are a big trend now. Probiotic skincare has been having a moment, but now it’s time to take it to the next level. Just like your gut, your skin needs a diverse array of bacteria to keep it healthy. Postbiotics will help to top up that good bacteria, while studies show the most significant benefits are targeting inflammation, and slowing down the signs of ageing and effect of pollutants.
