Night Creams
Advanced Night Restore, £59 | Medik8
Advanced Repair Ointment, £11 | CeraVe
Crème Ancienne White Truffle Face Cream, £256 (was £320) | Fresh
My skin always becomes more temperamental during the colder months, with dry, flaky patches flaring up more often and my skin looking a little greyer than I would like. To combat this, I need products full of the right kind of restorative ingredients. Top of that list are ceramides, which are essential lipids that keep the skin barrier in good health. That’s why I’m a big fan of Medki8’s Advanced Night Restore Cream, which leaves my skin feeling cossetted and cared for. In case things are looking really dire, I keep a tube of CeraVe’s excellent Advanced Repair Ointment on hand. It is supercharged enough to nix any serious scaliness. To target the lack of radiance, I have discovered a next-level decadent daily cream. Fresh’s Crème Ancienne White Truffle Face Cream isn’t just a complete joy to use, I swear that, after using it religiously, it softens lines and adds the kind of luminosity I only get after a facial.
Eye Creams
The Rich Eye Cream, £160 | Augustinus Bader
Supremÿa At Night The Supreme Anti-Ageing Eye Cream, £280 | Sisley Paris
Eye creams are something I dip in and out of because sometimes I feel the need for them and other times I don’t. Alas, thanks to cold temperatures, now is the time I start adding them back into my routine. First up is the new Augustinus Bader The Rich Eye Cream, which is an intensive moisturiser for the under-eye area that has really helped iron out my dehydration lines. Secondly, a moment for Sisley’s Supremÿa At Night The Supreme Anti-Ageing Eye Cream. The formula is loaded with rejuvenating actives like caffeine and yellow gentian extract, which hydrate, brighten and stimulate collagen production for improved density and resilience. Yes, both formulas are expensive, but if you’re in the market to invest in something that works, they are great options. Plus, a little goes a long way, so they ought to keep you going well into the new year.
Candles
L’Encens Candle, £74 | L'Artisan Parfumeur
Before Common Encens Candle, £75 | D.S & Durga
Candles are a year-round essential for me, but if we’re talking about creating a cosy wintery ambience, then it’s time to switch up my scents. For me, nothing creates an enveloping atmosphere quite like earthy, resinous notes like incense, amber and soft woods. Ticking all those boxes and more are L’Artisan Parfumeur's L’Encens and D.S & Durga’s Before Common Encens. While the former is a woody, more autumnal take on the brief, the latter is definitely more festive in feel (thanks to balsam and myrrh). I suggest stocking up now before the limited run ends.
Haircare
Rosemary Shampoo For Thinning Hair, £30 | Nécessaire
N°.5 leave-In™ Moisturize & Mend Leave-In Conditioner, £30 | Olaplex
Winter can be a battlefield when it comes to hair health – mine is prone to dryness and my scalp is always verging on itchy and unsettled. I cannot tell you how obsessed I have become with Necessaire’s new Rosemary Shampoo and Conditioner. Formulated with rosemary extract, plant proteins and ceramides, the shampoo delivers a proper, deep-down cleanse and gets my scalp back on an even keel after just one wash. Alongside this duo, I’ve been enjoying the Olaplex No. 5 Moisturize & Mend Leave-In Conditioner, which seals split ends immediately. That, combined with the aforementioned conditioner, leaves my hair feeling like silk.
Bodycare & Fragrance
Bum Bum Body Firmeza Oil, £52 | Sol De Janeiro
You Doux Eau De Parfum, £62 | Glossier
Nordic Wilds Bubble Bath, £18 | Space NK
My pre-bed wind down changes with the seasons. Come November, I am in full-on cosy mode. As well as pulling out the warmer PJs and cashmere socks, I like to choose my beauty accoutrements carefully. Frothy, foaming bath bubbles that I can sink into come courtesy of Space NK’s gorgeous (and very reasonably priced) Nordic Wilds Bubble Bath – I love this stuff – while nourished, gleaming skin ready is all thanks to Sol de Janeiro’s Bum Bum Body Firmeza Oil. As well as being just on the right side of sweetly scented, it contains micro algae, guarana and caffeine to stimulate micro circulation and stave of sluggishness. For a final flourish, I mist myself and my bedlinen in my favourite fragrance. Right now that’s Glossier’s You Doux EDP. One of the new iterations of the brand’s iconic bestseller, this version is just as covetable and skin like, but a little woodier, which really adds to the muskiness.
