Discover The Secret To Glossier, Healthier Hair On A Budget

Promising a salon-level finish at a fraction of the price, L’Oréal Paris' Elvive Glycolic Gloss range has got beauty insiders raving – just ask our junior beauty editor Sapna. Here’s why she thinks it’s worth adding to your routine and how to use it for best results.

THE HERO INGREDIENT

Skincare/make-up hybrids have been slowly taking over the beauty industry for a few years now, so it only feels natural that the haircare market is getting in on the action. This range uses skincare heavyweight glycolic acid, known for its expert smoothing properties, making your at-home hair routine more effortless – and more affordable too. Suitable for every hair type from poker straight to curly and textured, it promises to deliver noticeable results in just one wash.

THE NITTY GRITTY

The  Glycolic Gloss 5 Minute Lamination treatment is the hero of this clever collection. But it's worth noting that the same skincare-infused formula is used throughout the range, which consists of four products in total. The Elvive Glycolic Gloss Sulphate-Free Shampoo, the Glycolic Gloss Conditioner and the Glycolic Gloss Leave-in Serum can all be used on their own, but also work together to deliver silkier, smoother hair. Each product has a slightly different function, but each contains the same conditioning agents that work to seal the cuticle for long-lasting shine.

THE STEPS

01

THE SHAMPOO

To start, lock in some serious shine using this sulphate-free shampoo. Not only does it deep clean the hair and scalp for a fresher look, it also contains a 2% Gloss Complex (with glycolic acid) that better penetrates each strand to smooth and soften the hair for up to five washes. Simply massage – concentrate on the scalp but let the excess product run through the lengths.

02

THE CONDITIONER

This is one of those conditioners that instantly softens your hair – but rather than any nasty chemicals, it's all thanks to glycolic acid. Simply work it through your lengths and rinse out. If you’ve got a little more time, use a hairbrush to really work it through any knots.

03

THE GLOSS LAMINATION

Inspired by professional salon treatments – but made easy to do from the comfort of your home –this one-stop product can be added to your washday routine for a high-shine finish. It’s a rinse-off treatment, so simply apply it to wet hair in the shower, focusing on the middle and ends of your hair with any excess massaged into the roots before washing out after just 5 minutes.

04

THE SERUM

For a final step, use this serum post-wash. If you’ve followed all the previous steps, you won’t need it to detangle, but the good news is it also offers great heat protection as well as great shine too, of course. Focus the product on your mid-lengths and ends, and brush through before blowing dry.

THE REVIEW

Sapna Rao, Fashion & Beauty Junior Editor & Broadcaster

“I’ve got pretty high standards when it comes to hair products, and I’ve always been willing to invest to see results. So, I was pleasantly surprised to fall as hard as I have for a non-salon professional range that in total – after getting all four products – cost me under £30 under promotion, which is such a steal. When I started using the shampoo and conditioner, the first thing I noticed was the scent. Second was the way that, even after that first wash, my hair instantly felt smoother and silkier. When it was dry, I could really see the shine. That’s when I thought it would be worth trying the rest of the range and ended up finding my favourite product – the gloss lamination treatment. So much easier to use than other at-home gloss treatments I’ve tried, it gave my lacklustre hair the perfect glossy shine.”
