Inside My Make-Up Bag: Katie Jane Hughes
Bodyography Glitter Pigments, £20
“I’m often asked what eyeshadows I use and it’s always these from Bodyography. They are one of my favourite textures in the world – they have an unbeatable wet, glossy quality to them which is often something that’s hard to find. They’re super fine and soft, which makes them a joy to apply, while the finish catches the light beautifully. They withstand all temperatures, too, so they never slide around.”

NABLA Glowy Skin Blush, £19
“NABLA Cosmetics is one of my favourite new finds. The brand does amazing blushers that feel like your own skin, with a velvety, powdery texture. I can’t quite put into words how they glide on so seamlessly, but trust me, you’ll love them. Their beautiful, pebble texture works well on all skin tones, and they come in some great shades. You’ll find bronzers in the line-up, too.”

Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water, £16.10
“This is the best micellar water on the market – no question. It’s the one all make-up artists use, which explains why it’s become such a holy grail product. If I ever went on a job without it, things just wouldn’t feel right. It’s the gold standard and always leave skin feeling nicely prepped and smooth.”

Weleda Skin Food, £8.87
“It’s no secret this is one of my favourite products of all time – other experts and skincare lovers swear by it, too. It’s so rich and hydrating with an emollient, glossy texture that’s easy to work with. Just make sure you warm it up first and only use small amounts at any one time. I apply it to highlight the skin, as well as using it as face cream and a mask, too. There is little it can’t do. I love to press a small amount onto the eyelids, too, for that signature wet-look lid.”

Lancôme Lash Idôle Mascara, £23.50
“There are so many mascaras I love, but right now the one that’s always in my make-up bag is this from Lancôme. It builds volume like no other with a fun, spoon-like wand that allows you to push your lashes upwards for a fuller finish. It’s tricky to get off because the formula is so dense, but it’s worth it – trust me – so just hold your cleanser down for a few seconds longer to dissolve it fully.”
Available at Lancome.co.uk
ghd Unplugged, £299
“These are brilliant for travel and while they’re not in my make-up bag, they’re always in my kit, which is essentially the same thing for me. Cordless, they allow you to change your entire hairstyle in 20 minutes, wherever you are – even on the plane if you wanted some speedy styling.”

KJH 25 Piece Brush Set, £159.99
“Obviously, my brush collaboration with Spectrum was a huge moment for me, and I always use all 25 of them – as well as the handy pot. They’re also available as a two and five piece set and I have them in every kit I own – both for work and at home. I’m so proud of them – they’re versatile, dense and fluffy, so you can create a multitude of looks with ease.”

La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Aqua Gel SPF30, £25.87
“This is my favourite SPF and I wear it every single day. It sits so well underneath make-up and gives your complexion a great, dewy glow. You can barely feel it on your skin, and it’s so quenching and plumping.”

Frederic Malle Portrait of A Lady Eau De Parfum, £49
“I’m never without this fragrance; I travel everywhere with it. It’s one of those scents that always wins you compliments – whenever I’m wearing it and I meet someone, they immediately ask questions. It’s rich and hypnotic, as well as very rosy with smokey, deep undertones – it’s unlike any other floral scent on the market.”

Benefit 24-HR Brow Setter, £22.50
“If you love the laminated, glossy brow effect, then this is for you. It’s all I use on my brows and I swear by it because it has an almost crunchy, hairspray-like texture that sets everything into place for a completely budge-proof finish. The flat wand is great too, as it allows you stick your brows hairs upwards. My favourite brow product of all time.”

Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate 0.5, £64
“When it comes to sculpting and defining my skin, I always turn to this. It has both a highlight and bronze shade that’s brilliant for subtly enhancing the skin. Mix them together or wear solo – either way, the creamy textures are great for blending and defining your complexion with minimal effort. You can use the shades on your eyelids, too.”

Make Up Forever Artist Colour Pencil in Endless Cacao, £15
“This is a regular repurchase for me. A suits-all shade, the taupe-y tone gives a nice shadow to any lip colour you’re wearing for extra dimension and shape. It’s malleable, too, so you can layer it well and gently sculpt your cupid’s bow. A great tool for faking a fuller-looking pout.”
