Inside My Make-Up Bag: Amanda Harrington

Known for her tanning expertise, and as the founder of luxury beauty concierge InParlour, Amanda Harrington is something of a legend in the beauty world. With an equally sound knowledge when it comes to all things make-up, skin and hair, she gave us a sneak peek at her top essentials – from the niche foundation she swears by, to her favourite brushes and the skincare products she buys on repeat.

All products on this page have been selected by our editorial team, however we may make commission on some products.

FOR BASE MAKE-UP...

1. Bite Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation

Why She Loves It: “This is mineral-based and feels so fresh and soft on the skin. It’s also incredibly lightweight, so it applies in an even, seamless glide, as well as lending flawless coverage. Currently, it’s only stocked in the US, but they do ship to the UK, so I always stock up.”

2. Rodial Airbrush Concealer in Malibu + Benefit Boi-Ing Industrial Strength Concealer

Why She Loves Them: “I use the former for my entire face – especially on days where I just want to cover the bare minimum – and the latter to brighten underneath my eye area. The two are always in my kit and can be used in different ways.”

3. Skin in Motion Work IT Tinted Moisturiser

Why She Loves It: “If you want to buy a tinted moisturiser, this one comes highly recommended. I often use it on top of my 3-Step Face Tan System as and where I need it the most. It has great coverage and just fills in the gaps when you want something more lightweight – perfect for summer.”

FOR EYES & BROWS…

4. Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara

Why She Loves It: “Nothing beats this formula. I go back to it time and again. It never drops, smudges or flakes – plus, it gives lashes great length and definition.”

5. MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot

Why She Loves Them: “I use MAC’s Eye Paints in either ‘Painterly’ or ‘Layin’ Low’ to create an even, smooth eyelid. I’m not a fan of eyeshadow, but these always give a little hint of something, while smoothing out any creases, too.”

6. HD Brows Colourfix + Eyeko Brow Gel

Why She Loves Them: “After using a herbal brow oil – which was handmade for me by a technician to stimulate growth and softer hairs – I flick through Eyeko’s Brow Gel before going over them with HD Brows Colour, using a wand to deftly fill in the hairs.”

FOR BRUSHES & TOOLS…

7. Sephora + Real Techniques + Wayne Goss Brushes

Why She Loves Them: “You can’t beat Sephora’s own brand line for brushes. Again, they have to be shipped from abroad, but they’re well worth the wait. Likewise, Real Techniques brushes are always in my kit, as are the brushes from Wayne Goss. That range has something for everyone. Of course, I also have my own brush, which I swear by for applying self-tan, too.”

FOR SCULPTING SKIN…

8. Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand in Spotlight

Why She Loves It: “This attracts light to the face without the usual heavy, frosted pigments. It’s easy to apply and you only need a small amount on the highest areas on your face for maximum effect.”

9. Amanda Harrington The 3-Step Face Tan System

Why She Loves It: “My products were so long in the making and I’m so proud of them. But we still have room to grow and develop, so I always have some new formulations on me which I’m testing. This three-step system is the best for sculpting and adding warmth to the skin. You can apply it with the brush wherever you feel you need it most. I like to use the mist around the cheekbones and temples for extra definition – think of it like a semi-permanent bronzer which can be applied in less than 30-seconds.”

10. Soap & Glory Glow & Dew It Luminous Concentrate Elixir

Why She Loves It: “This has long been my go-to. I mix it with a tinted moisturiser, then blend it over the top of freshly tanned skin for extra radiance and luminosity.”

11. Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow

Why She Loves It: “Once I’ve applied all my make-up and tan, I’ll pop a little of this onto my cheeks to bring out a healthy flush of colour. It’s so believable and easy to apply – especially when time is of the essence.”

FOR ORGANIC ESSENTIALS…

12: Evolve Organic Beauty

Why She Loves It: “I stumbled across this brand during lockdown, and have since bought the entire range. Everything in the line is beautiful, and their products add luxury to any bath. Their cleansing melt is a stand out. I swear by Honest Beauty for make-up, too.”

FOR RELIABLE SKINCARE…

13. Jan Marini C-ESTA Serum + EGF Bioeffect Serum + Medik8 Peptides

Why She Loves Them: “I use a mixture of these, as well as SkinCeutical’s Discolouration Defense Serum to take a preventative approach. They work well in tandem to provide steady results over time, as well as improve radiance and even skin tone. They’re a good way to prep and prime the skin for make-up, too.”

14. Jurlique Rose Facial Spray + Susanne Kaufmann Bodycare

Why She Loves Them: “Susanne Kaufman’s bath and body products are always on hand at home – I constantly buy them on repeat as they’re so luxurious. Another product I stockpile is Jurlique’s Rose Facial Spray. It’s brilliant for calming inflammation, prepping the skin and hitting refresh throughout the day.”

FOR LIPS…

15. Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink + Givenchy Lip Liners

Why She Loves Them: “These are the only lip products I use. I love lining my mouth with a lip pencil [like Givenchy’s] then filling everything in with Maybelline’s Super Stay Matte Inks. They’re long-lasting and have great pigment. Meanwhile, Givenchy’s liners are a brilliant, sophisticated option thanks to their creamy, velvet finish.”

FOR A MAKE-UP BAG & INNER ESSENTIALS…

16. Byredo Hand Scrub + By Terry Rose Lip Balm + MIO Space Spray

Why She Loves Them: “My mesh bag – which my tanning set comes in – is what I use to carry all my make-up. I like it because I can see everything and it’s great for travel, in the car or to have handy when you’re popping onto a Zoom call. Inside it, you’ll always find my ‘Space Spray,’ which is an alcohol-free formula that kills bacteria on the spot. I’m never without it. I love to have Byredo’s handy scrubs close by too, as often I get caught short with tan marks on my skin. Finally, By Terry’s lip balm is essential, as is a good hand cream.”
