The Hype

Blush and lip sticks are nothing new, but if you’ve seen the hype surrounding Lisa Eldridge’s new launch, you’d be forgiven for thinking she had invented the category. There are a handful of reasons they are popular, but what stands out to us is how they feel on the skin. Waxy but without any stickiness or greasy feel, they are easy to buff on, melting into the skin quickly, while giving just enough pigment to warm up your complexion and lips, and never feeling OTT. Think of them as tinted balms with a slightly glazed effect.

Another benefit is how chunky the sticks are and the fact the shades can take you anywhere – day or night. Perfectly shaped, you’ll find you can dab them on the entire lip (and cheek) area in one go for a lovely, natural-looking flush of colour.

The Formula

Available in five shades, ranging from peaches to rich reds and soft, baby pinks, each stick is loaded with hydrating emollients that impart colour softly. Added shea butter means the formula melts in seamlessly, with just enough dewiness to brighten and lift your complexion – something Lisa was keen to achieve: “I like blush to look as if it’s radiating from within, rather than sitting unnaturally on the surface. With these sticks, you can build up slowly, rather than put too much on and then have to try and tone it down.”

Despite how sheer the colour is, it stays put for hours. While all the shades are designed to suit everyone, ‘Cinnamon Bun’ is the one currently standing out. Sitting somewhere between a caramel nude and soft terracotta, it adds warmth and dimension to your face, giving lips a fuller and fresher effect.

The Best Way To Use Them

Because the pigment levels are so sheer, these sticks are incredibly forgiving, meaning they’re easy to apply, even when you’re on the go. In terms of application, Lisa recommends using fingers for your cheeks: “Fingers are often the best tool, the warmth of your hands can really help the product meld seamlessly into the skin. I tap a little colour onto the apples of the cheeks, then gently press and diffuse it outwards. I’m not rubbing… it’s more of a soft pressing motion. If you prefer a brush, go for something soft and not too dense. Placement makes a big difference too. For a fresher, youthful look, keep the blush central on the cheeks. If you want something more lifted, bring the colour a little higher along your cheekbone, blending upward rather than down.”
