THE HYPE
Statement cheeks are having a moment – from the ‘blush blindness’ trend to Sabrina Carpenter’s now-signature flush – and we’re very much on board. Blush instantly breathes life back into the face, creating the illusion of better health and energy.
Powder formulas reign supreme when it comes to staying power, but there’s something about the texture of a cream that lends itself perfectly to that fresh, dewy effect. The Buttermelt Blush, one of NYX’s latest additions, straddles the two, gliding onto the skin like a cream but offering the longevity and pigment of a powder. Think of it as a hybrid formula, designed to give you the best of both worlds.
THE FORMULA
Cream textures can slip and slide over the course of the day on oily types, but because Buttermelt has a powdery quality on the skin, it stays put. Formulated using a blend of shea, almond and mango butter to give it that soft, melty consistency, it’s so easy to work with.
Spanning everything from playful brights to more muted, everyday colours, the shade range feels full and varied. There’s a pretty orangey-peach if you’re looking to add candlelight warmth, otherwise lean into the autumn mood with one of the berry-toned shades.
According to make-up artist and SL contributor Adeola Gboyega, the budget-friendly price point isn’t reflective of the impressive colour payoff. “The pigment is outstanding, rivalling some blushes by more expensive brands. It blends effortlessly, giving a smooth, natural finish that lasts all day without fading.”

THE BEST WAY TO USE IT
Swirl an angled cheek brush into the product and tap off any excess. Dust it over the apples of the cheeks, blending gently up towards the temples. Buff it into the skin for an understated, natural-looking flush, or gradually layer up the pigment for a more high-impact look. For a cute, unified touch, you can even sweep a little over the bridge of the nose.
