THE HYPE

Ask any beauty editor or backstage pro and they’ll tell you: Chantecaille’s Future Skin Foundation has always been a standout. First launched in 1999, it was ahead of its time – a water-based gel formula that delivered breathable, real-skin coverage long before ‘clean girl’ make-up was a thing. After all, Chantecaille has long been at the forefront of luxury botanical beauty — and as a conservation-first brand, its Beauty with Impact mission means every product is created with both skin and the planet in mind. Fast-forward to now, and it’s had an upgrade. The cult classic has been reformulated to include even more skin-boosting botanicals, expanded to 21 shades (with seven new additions), and repackaged in a chic, sustainable glass jar with an aluminium lid. Still weightless, still glowy it actively improves your skin every time you wear it.

THE FORMULA

What sets the new Future Skin apart is how much more it gives back to your complexion. Yes, the gel texture is still lightweight, fresh and ultra-blendable but underneath that seamless finish is a serious line-up of skincare-grade ingredients. Hydrating Spirodela Polyrhiza extract quenches thirsty skin, soothing Chaga Mushroom dials down redness, and a plant-based retinol alternative from the Mastic Tree gently refines. Chamomile, Arnica and Aloe keep things calm and comfortable, while antioxidant-rich Rosemary and Green Tea offer extra protection against daily stressors. The result? A formula that’s dewy, smoothing and genuinely good for your skin – not just while you’re wearing it but long after you’ve taken it off.

THE APPLICATION

Best applied with the brand’s Blend & Smooth Complexion Brush, this is one of those bases that glides on with minimal effort and no tell-tale lines. The soft, angled bristles hug every curve of the face, blending seamlessly for a natural finish that’s never cakey or heavy. We love it buffed over Pure Rosewater and the Ultra Sun Protection Primer SPF45 for a fresh, plumped base – and if you’re after a bit of extra glow, a layer of Sheer Glow Gold Face Tint underneath does the trick. Finish with a flush of Cheek Gelée in ‘Happy’ on the apples of your cheeks and you're good to go.

So natural and UNDETECTABLE on the skin, it just makes everything look better. I have oily skin and was worried it would be too greasy, but it holds up BEAUTIFULLY and stays shine-free.
It gives you that 'YOUR SKIN BUT BETTER' finish – not cakey at all and it doesn’t settle into lines. I use a BUFFER BRUSH a couple of minutes after applying to set it, and it looks even smoother.
