THE NEED-TO-KNOWS

A lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment designed to enhance your natural lashes by lifting and curling them, making your eyes appear more open and defined. Think of it as a perm for your lashes, creating that longer, fuller effect.

THE METHOD

Before you actually get one, the first step is to book in for a patch test. This is important as it detects potential sensitivities to the solutions used to treat your lashes. At Blink Brow Bar, customers are required to have had a patch test at least 48 hours prior to treatment. During the lash lift itself, a therapist will first conduct a thorough assessment to check your lash health and discuss what look you are going for. Next, the lashes will be thoroughly cleansed, ensuring they’re free from make-up or oil residue that can act as a barrier. Your therapist will then select the right shield based on your lash length and eye shape, as well as your desired results. Then, the natural lashes are wrapped over the silicone shield and a lifting solution is applied to break the hair bond, followed by a setting solution to set the new shape. Finally, a nourishing lotion is applied to rehydrate the lashes.

It's one of those 'HIGH-MAINTENANCE TO BE LOW-MAINTENANCE' treatments that makes you look instantly put-together. Having recently tried the Korean version, I've found myself converted by the SUBTLE, FLATTERING RESULTS.

THE BENEFITS

If you’re into low-effort beauty, a lash lift is brilliant, requiring little to no maintenance. The result is a natural-looking curled and lifted effect, without the need for a traditional curler tool. You might even find you can go without mascara, especially if combined with a tint, which I highly recommended for those with fair lashes.

THE AFTERCARE

For the best results, keep your lashes dry and avoid water and steam for the first 24 to 48 hours after treatment to set them in place. Also, make sure you don’t sleep on them, as this can affect the shape. Refrain from using heavy oils and waterproof mascara, instead go for something light and full of nourishing, hydrating ingredients – like Lash Boost and Luscious Lash Oil – to feed the follicles and support your overall lash health. I also recommend using a tamer brush to comb them daily. With proper care, the results of a lash lift can last between six and eight weeks.

THE NEW FORMULA TO KNOW

A traditional lash lift uses thioglycolic acid to break down the hair bond, whereas a Korean lash lift is powered by a gentler, cysteamine based formula. Both create a new shape to the lashes, but the Korean version involves a two-step root lift process. First, the hairs are relaxed using a flat shield, followed by a shaping shield to create the desired curl and lift, from root to tip. Our signature lash lift uses one shield, then the TGA formula is applied only at the curve to relax and create the new shape, achieving a result akin to that which you would achieve from using lash curlers. The Korean lash lift appears as though it lasts longer as there is no kink and the cysteamine based formula lifts from the root.
