The Products Our Beauty Editor Has Finished Recently

SL beauty editor Rebecca Hull tries and tests hundreds of new products that land on her desk each week. Constant arrivals mean it’s rare she reaches the end of a product. So, when she does, you can be sure it’s something worth shouting about. From muscle-soothing bath salts to a brow growth serum and other everyday essentials, here are her latest empties…

Byredo Blanche Body Lotion, £44

Byredo’s ‘Blanche’ is one of my favourite fragrances of all time, so it’s little wonder I used the body lotion up so quickly. Finished in a matter of weeks, it’s seriously silky and smells as strong as the perfume, with white rose, peony and neroli. It has a crisp, fresh smell – think of newly washed sheets – that lingers on the skin for hours. Plus, it’s very hydrating and gets rid of dryness fast.

Rituals The Ritual Of Jing Magnesium Bath Crystals, £13.90

Weary souls and those with tight muscles should try these magnesium-rich bath salts. Not only do they smell incredible (think lavender and wood), they bring an immediate sense of calm, and scent the room for hours. As soon as you step into your tub, you’ll feel the benefit. A great investment for those struggling to drift off, too.

Clinique All In One Cleansing Micellar Milk, £19.50

I rarely deviate from Garnier’s cult micellar water but this clever formula from Clinique has the potential to knock it off the top spot. As you massage it into the skin, it transforms from a milk to a velvety oil that makes light work of all make-up – including stubborn, waterproof formulas. It glides seamlessly across the skin, so you never have to tug or pull at anything left behind. You only need a small amount too, so expect this to last you for months.

Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma, £23

When it comes to highly pigmented glitter shadows, nothing beats Stila’s award-winning formulas. My go-to is ‘Kitten Karma’ as it works for both day and night – wear just a single sheer layer, or build it up for extra impact. Providing a 3D effect, it catches the light beautifully and never smudges. Considered fool-proof by many experts, these shadows are easy-to-use and allow you to create a ‘look’ within seconds and without needing to check a mirror as you go.

RapidBrow Eyebrow Enhancing Serum, £37

This is the only brow growth product that’s worked for me. Don’t expect overnight results, but you will see an improvement after about a week. A favourite of industry insiders, keratin, biotin and fruit cell extracts work to add bulk and improve shape. The only downside is when you stop using it, hair growth returns to normal. But given the cost of more permanent brow treatments, a regular investment in this serum is, in the long run, much more affordable. Stick to using it twice a day for the best results.

Redken Extreme Length Shampoo & Conditioner, £11.35

A first of its kind, Redken’s latest shampoo and conditioner promise longer hair, thanks to their biotin and castor oil-infused formulas. Proven to strengthen and fortify strands by up to 81%, they also work to prevent breakage, giving hair the chance to grow and recuperate. It may sound too good to be true, but I’ve noticed a visible difference in both the strength and density of my hair. While growth hasn’t been that dramatic, my strands feel weightier and they have more far shine than they did before.

Liz Earle Bourbon Vanilla & Clove Botanical Body Wash, £12

The name of this body wash says it all – warming, wintery and seriously creamy. A special edition for Christmas, this new Liz Earle fragrance is not to be missed, nor is the nourishing formula. Brimming with essential oils and vitamin E, it hydrates and smooths the skin while coating it in a layer of heady, addictive fragrance. If you’re stuck for stocking fillers, this is such a winner, or if you simply want to update your body wash, I can’t recommend this enough.

SAIE Liquid Lip Balm, £14

If you’re after a new everyday lip product, check out this balm-gloss hybrid from SAIE. With a pearly sheen, it provides a healthy-looking tint of colour while boosting hydration, too, thanks to jojoba and coconut oil. It also gives lips a pillow-y effect, plumping up the mouth for a fuller effect. Wear it solo, or on top of other colours for best results.

Trinny Lip2Cheek Pot, £25

You can use these clever pots on your lids, lips and cheeks for a brighter, fresher appearance. The texture is matte, so once you’ve applied it, you’ll find there’s no budge or slip. Plus, the density of the pot means it will last you for at least six months – if not more. Apply with a brush for all-over rosiness, or use your fingers to push the product into the lips for a more feathered effect.

Prismologie Oud Massage Candle, £49

Easily one of the best fragrances I’ve ever smelt, this Oud candle has a unisex quality to it that’s not only comforting, but warming, too. It’s strong and potent with a fragrance that lingers in the room well after the candle has been blown out. As for the massage aspect, just a small amount can be used on the skin to soften and smooth. It’s rich, indulgent and highly addictive – there’s nothing quite like it. Previously limited edition, this is now permanently stocked online.

Kérastase Soothing Scrub, £28.80

This was recommended to me by several experts after I complained my hair was lank and lifeless. Designed to be used twice a week instead of your shampoo, it’s gritty (without being abrasive) and works to lift product residue and excess oil from your scalp. The result? Hair that’s bouncier with visible volume – not to mention smoother, softer strands, too. The exfoliation process helps to stimulate your scalp, so over time, your hair is encouraged to grow. A must-try for finer hair types, or anyone seeking speedy shine and a healthier-looking appearance.
