Where Did The Brand Come From?
Founder Kilian is from the Hennessy family, who own the biggest, luxury cognac brand in the world, so he has never been a stranger to decadent, rich aromas. It was this experience that led him to create his own fragrances brand, Kilian. As one of the most experienced noses in the industry – he honed his craft at luxury houses Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani and Alexander McQueen – you can be safe in the knowledge that each scent is worth the price tag. In fact, some might say it’s his expertise and desire to push the boundaries which has largely inspired his cult celebrity following.
What Makes The Fragrances Special?
Many of Kilian’s signature scents nod to the sweet sugar of alcohol and the wood of cognac barrels. There’s also the longevity of the scents – spray it once and you’ll still be able to detect it on your skin the following day. Extra points go to the weighty packaging that feels super luxe – plus each bottle is also refillable, so you can top up without having to buy another bottle at full price every time.

Love, Don’t Be Shy, From £185
The fragrance which earned Rihanna the title of ‘best smelling celebrity’, Love Don’t Be Shy hit the mainstream once people discovered it was her go-to – no surprise, then, to hear it quickly sold out at retailers across the globe. To this day, it remains a brand bestseller. The reason? Rich, but with feminine undertones, it doesn’t completely overpower. Dubbed a ‘gourmand dream’ expect to find notes of marshmallow, vanilla and orange blossom which combine for something totally unique.

Forbidden Games, From £185
A go-to for the likes of Priyanka Chopra-Jones, this is richer than ‘Love Don’t Be Shy’, with notes of peach, cinnamon bark and Bulgarian rose. Ideal if you prefer your scents on the headier side, it’s ideal for night-time and feels incredibly luxe. Well worth a spritz if you’re craving something warm and comforting.

Angels' Share, From £165
Created off the back of a collab with French perfumer Benoist Lapouza, this is Kilian's newest fragrance and it was designed to replicate the scent of cognac – hence the rich colour inside the bottle. One of his most intimate launches to date, inside the bottle, there’s cognac oil, oak absolute, cinnamon essence and tonka bean, which combine to create a fragrance with real depth and longevity. The vanilla dry down is a nice touch, too, counteracting the richness for something that feels a little bit different.

Good Girl Gone Bad, From £185
At last, a non-standard rose in which orange blossom, jasmine and tuberose provide a slick counterpoint to the floral notes inside. It’s sweet, but not overbearing, with a feminine dry down you’ll love. Expect plenty of compliments with this one – a must-try if you’re a floral fan.

Rolling in Love, From £185
This musk-laced fragrance is one of the lightest on this list. Dubbed a ‘white’ scent, it uses almond milk, iris and ambrette seeds for a scent that’s fresh and clean. As sensual as it looks, it almost feels cocooning on the skin – a must-try if you want something soft. You'll love the weighty, iconic red bottle too that adds to the overall luxury of this scent.
