It’s true that there is no ‘safe tan’ with experts all agreeing that nothing you apply to your skin will completely prevent the production of melanin – skin’s protective dark pigment. That said, taking the right supplements can help. They don’t mean you require less sunscreen, but they do boost the skin’s natural defences against UVA and UVB rays. Plus, they prepare the skin for the sun and protect cells from UV-induced stress with vitamins C and E, purslane and zinc. We took these four months prior to sun exposure and found allergies, including heat rash and prickly heat, weren’t nearly as bad.
