The Beauty Buys We’re Gifting This Mother’s Day

Flowers and chocolates are classics for a reason but a beauty gift for Mother’s Day feels that little bit more personal. If our mums are anything to go by, something from Space NK would go down well – and here are some suggestions from the SL team to steer you in the right direction…

“My mum already steals Byoma products from my sister, so she will undoubtedly love its new mask. I’d also throw in the Tatcha cream, which has incredible anti-ageing benefits. She’s a hand cream addict and Aesop’s is one of the most nourishing out there. In retirement, she’s travelling more, so to keep her hair happy on the go I’d opt for this travel-friendly Oribe set. When it comes to fragrance, she loves rose, and you can’t go wrong with this Penhaligon’s classic.”

"My mum is quite simple with her make-up routine and for a base, she pretty much always reaches for her trusty NARS Tinted Moisturiser  (which I also love and put her onto years ago) so I know a top-up will always be well-received. Like mother like daughter, we're both drawn to beautiful, thoughtfully-designed objects and this vintage-style Lisa Eldridge lipstick caught my eye – plus, I know the rusty redness of 'Lili' would complement her skin tone. Gifting someone pore-clearing skincare might seem strange but I know Paula's Choice's BHA is one of her holy-grail products – it’s fine to be practical! Finally, she loves candles and Diptyque is always my go-to when I want to treat someone. Creamy, green ‘Tubereuse’ is right up her street and I know she'll appreciate the chic ceramic vessel too."

My mum and I are basically the same person – from our love of good glow to the fragrances we refuse to move on from. So, when it comes to Mother’s Day, I’d gift her the beauty heroes I know she’ll actually use (and that I’ll probably borrow). These sheet masks are brilliant for getting that plump, post-facial bounce. She could then follow up with Tatcha’s lip mask, the overnight saviour I swear by for soft, glossy lips. I’d also slip in this blush stick, which gives you that gorgeous flush. Olaplex’s oil is a non-negotiable in both our routines for shine and strength, and finally, Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 + Mandarin is the most nostalgic scent; she’s worn it for years.”
