The Products The SL Beauty Team Have Finished Recently

Between them, the SL beauty team and contributors test hundreds of products. The constant rotation means it’s rare they reach the dregs of anything – so when they do, you can be sure it’s something worth shouting about. From a new retinol serum to a nourishing lip tint and split-end hair balm, here are the latest products they’ve used up to the very end.

Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick, £36 | Chanel

Lisa Potter-Dixon, Make-Up Artist, Author & SL Contributor

“I’d go as far as to say this is one of the best products ever made. I often stock up on a few at a time, as I get through them at speed. It creates the ultimate, glossy, glow – whether that be on your face, down your legs or on areas like your collarbone. It also mixes nicely with loose glitter, acting like a sealant for your eyelids and over areas like your cheekbones. There’s little you can’t do with it.”

Aromatherapy Candle - Restore, £18 | Nature's Journey

Rebecca Hull, Beauty Director

“The phrase ‘smells like a spa’ is overused, but it’s one I am going to use to describe this calming candle. It normally takes me months to burn through candles, but this one disappeared so quickly I’ve since bought two more – they’re affordable at £16. Geranium, petitgrain and frankincense come together in this soothing, festive and head-clearing scent. I keep it burning on my desk at work and I always get asked what it is. I love that the wax is made from coconut oil too, so there are no nasty chemicals, while the cotton wick burns for hours. A brilliant stocking filler.”

Pigment Control Drops, £110 | Dr. Levy

Rafeeka Khan, Skincare & Beauty Expert & SL Contributor

“These drops are game-changing. A repeat purchase for me, they work well to keep skin smooth and clear of any uneven tone – think breakouts but also dark spots. I love that the formula doesn’t contain any hydroquinone or arbutin either – two ingredients that are typically used to tackle dark spots, but that can also cause redness, irritation and the lightening of skin. If dark patches bother you, I promise you won’t regret trying these.”

Barrier Restore Cream, £29 | Rhode

Sapna Rao, Fashion, Beauty & LG Junior Editor & Broadcaster

“I was surprised how much I loved this product as I normally opt for gel-based creams. This has a creamy, velvety texture that I love. It’s lightweight, yet somehow very nourishing. Gentle and containing minimal ingredients, it gave my skin just enough comfort without suffocating it or causing breakouts. It promises a hefty dose of hydration and has been a saviour throughout the cold snap. I love how it helps my make-up sit better, too. I desperately need to get another tube.”

The Big Clean Mascara, £22 | Kosas

Georgia Day, Journalist & SL Beauty Columnist

“I’m always on the lookout for a great new mascara and this one from cult beauty brand Kosas did not disappoint. While I loved the inky black formula, what I liked most was the curved rainbow brush – it follows the contour of the eyes and grabs every last lash. And because the brush is fluffy but not too compacted, it gives you great separation as well as volume and lift. An empty I will definitely be restocking.”

The Body Lotion, £12 | Nécessaire

Adeola Gboyega, Pro Make-Up Artist & SL Contributor

“I love this lotion and often get through tube after tube. It’s rich and luxurious, and designed to protect your skin’s delicate barrier. Just a small amount combats dryness and gets rid of any flakes of parched skin. It’s full of nourishing ingredients and immediately feels like it’s revitalising skin at speed. I love how it leaves my skin with a healthy sheen too. A winter essential.”

Press & Glow Daily Exfoliating PHA Tonic With Enzyme Activator, £28 | Medik8

Michaella Bolder, Celebrity Facialist, Skincare Expert & SL Beauty Contributor

“My most recent empty is Medik8’s Press & Glow Toner. It’s a gentle exfoliating solution that’s great for all skin types – including sensitive skin – to dust away dead and dull surface cells. As part of my routine, every other morning I pump a little onto a cotton pad and sweep it around my face, neck and chest ahead of applying my vitamin C or hydration serum. The results are instant – think better glow and a fresher, healthier-looking complexion.”
