It’s been one of those years where I feel like I’ve barely spent any time at home, so I’m looking forward to a big night in on New Year’s Eve. I’ve got my eye on this themed tablecloth from OYOY at Glassette, which features embroidered shells, champagne coupes and bows. I’ll be teaming this with a couple of fun accessories by Gohar World via Selfridges, such as this ultra-fun silver faux-leather mini apron and mother-of-pearl shell napkin rings. In keeping with the low-effort evening, I’m planning a high/low combo of nice homewares with a delivery of Detroit-style pizza pies from Brighton local Cutie Pies & Fries (which will no doubt double-up as hangover deterrents the next day). I’ll also be keeping it local with a bottle or two of sparkling wine from South Downs vineyard Sugrue. On New Year’s Day, I like going for a brisk walk and the Long Man of Wilmington is top of the list before we head to the cinema – this year, there’s only one film I want to see: We Live In Time. That all said, I also have a loose, last-minute idea swirling in the back of my brain to head up to Scotland for three nights to stay in a cabin and go hiking… in which case, I’ll pack the fizz and abandon the rest in favour of walking boots and a waterproof.

We’re focusing on New Year’s Eve daytime this year rather than the night itself, with a big friends’ lunch at Darby’s in Battersea. We’ll then walk towards home, stopping off at a few pubs on the way – one of our favourites is The White Bear in Kennington. A few people are then coming back to ours for the midnight countdown. I’ll be popping open a few bottles of English sparkling wine and there will be some organised fun with party games. To make it from day to night, I’m planning on wearing these Massimo Dutti boots, a mini skort from Abercrombie and this faux-fur coat from ASOS Design.

This year I’m hosting a NYE party at home with friends and family, so I’m looking forward to cooking festive dishes and going all out with decorations. We’re having about 25 people over, so I’ll be prepping lots of canapés ahead of time, including classic smoked salmon and cream cheese blinis, homemade cheese twists and million-layer potatoes topped with comté and lots of black pepper – a recent, very moreish discovery. Christmas Day is quite casual in my family, so for NYE we’ll be serving some special drinks including French 75s and spicy margaritas made with El Rayo tequila. I like the idea of a festive chilli and clementine salt rim. Every year, I make a huge tower of profiteroles drenched with dark chocolate sauce and filled with vanilla ice-cream, so we’ll bring that out just before midnight with sparklers and champagne. After the countdown, my friends and I will probably spend hours using our new Tech Bar karaoke machine (the best joint investment!) for a festive sing-along to ring in 2025.

This New Year’s Eve we are thrilled to have been invited round to our friends’ house just a short walk away. It's lovely that we get to go along as a family for pre-drinks before my oldest heads out. My daughter will stay to see in the New Year and watch Christmas movies with the other younger kids. It’s going to be a landmark year of no babysitters and no taxis! I am planning to wear my Malina cream blazer from a collaboration with Anouk Yve, along with some M&S sequinned trousers and a big faux-fur coat to keep me cosy on the walk home. I love to take homeware as a gift for the host, as well as a bottle or two of bubbles. I think Tooka does lovely items, like these ribbon candle holders or a pretty trinket tray.

One thing you can guarantee when it comes to me and New Year’s is that I will be getting on a plane, usually to somewhere hot. This year I am heading to Rio de Janeiro for a girls’ trip and I couldn't be more excited. I love being away for New Year because there is zero pressure to have any set plans, the joy of being on holiday is enough. That said, as I'm heading to Rio, the plans are pretty much already laid out. The iconic party and fireworks display on Copacabana beach is undoubtedly where we will be ringing in 2025. I've been informed that it's tradition for everyone to wear white on New Year’s Eve, and while I haven't completely decided on my look, this Nadine Merabi dress is a strong contender. I'll start the day by lounging by the pool with some sight-seeing in the afternoon on the Sugarloaf cable car. I've been given a whole list of restaurant recommendations and top of it is Yaya, which serves Brazilian dishes with African roots.

New Year's Eve is always a big family occasion and this year will be no different, with plenty of food and champagne to go around. On the menu we’ll have picky bits with a Punjabi infusion including homemade samosas, spicy pakoras and some rich butter chicken with roti for the main event. I’ll be celebrating in the north of England, so a pub visit is always on the cards. I’ll wear these chic, playful fringed trousers from Reiss, which have been on my wish list for a while – the statement fringing makes them ideal for disguising any less-than-perfect dance moves! We’re always back at home just in time to watch Jools Holland’s Hootenanny and the countdown to midnight and set off some party poppers accompanied by champagne and a few family toasts.
