Right on the waterfront, Park Hyatt is a go-to for five-star stays. The interiors are clean and modern and there are numerous restaurants. It’s also where Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker stayed when they visited New Zealand.

Also on Ponsonby Road, just a short walk from Elmo’s, Hoppers is an all-time favourite of mine. It’s my go-to for a reason – the atmosphere is great, the interiors are cool and the drinks are always delicious. It’s a fun year-round spot.

If you’re in Waiheke at the weekend, you must visit this authentic Italian restaurant and winery. Botswana Butchery is the cosiest spot with roaring log fires inside and out, making it the perfect spot for a date. As you’d expect, there’s a great selection of local meat, as well as delicate seafood dishes. The Peking duck is particularly good.
