Where The SL Team & Friends Are Going This Summer

“I am heading to Seoul later this month on one of the first Virgin Atlantic flights on the airline’s new route and to say I’m excited is an understatement; it’s been a bucket-list destination for a while. I’m staying at Mondrian Seoul Itaewon, which feels like the perfect base for my first trip. It’s a design-led hotel in one of the city’s most dynamic neighbourhoods and puts me in a brilliant position to experience Seoul’s mix of old and new. While I’m there, I want to fully immerse myself in the culture – from diving headfirst into K-beauty at Olive Young N Seongsu, the brand’s huge flagship that offers personalised beauty experiences and specialist consultations, to exploring Seoul’s fashion scene properly. I already know the vintage designer shopping is going to be off the scale. I can’t wait for the shopping, neighbourhood wandering, late-night Korean barbecue, coffee stops and visits to traditional places and markets.
“I am also planning on having a Euro summer and top of my list is a long weekend in Florence with my mum, as neither of us has ever been before. I’ve earmarked a stay at Collegio alla Querce, a stunning hilltop retreat set in a restored historic estate overlooking the city: think elegant, light-filled rooms, terraced gardens, a serene spa and one of the most beautiful pools in Florence, all with sweeping Duomo views. It feels like a peaceful escape just minutes from the buzz of the city, perfect for slow mornings and sunset aperitivos. I’m planning on a mix of culture and shopping, ticking off the Duomo and Uffizi, then spending afternoons browsing the boutiques and hidden ateliers. I’ll also dedicate a day to outlet shopping at The Mall Firenze for designer pieces at a fraction of the price. Long lunches, gelato stops and golden-hour strolls over Ponte Vecchio will all make it the perfect balance of style, culture and indulgence.”

“With a new addition to our family arriving in the spring, we’re in the middle of planning a late-summer trip to the French Alps. I’ve always loved the idea of seeing the Alps in summer and after missing out on skiing for the past couple of years – thanks to pregnancy and babies – I’m hoping this will more than make up for it, with plenty of gooey cheese and delicious wine back on the menu. In an ideal world, we’d turn it into a leisurely road trip through France, stopping along the way. But with a two-year-old and a newborn in tow, we’re keeping things a little more practical – flying into Geneva and heading straight to Megève, which I’ve heard is brilliant for little ones.
“Les Fermes de Marie has long been on my radar – one of those rare family-friendly hotels that still feels considered and stylish for adults – so we’re planning to spend a few days there before moving into a chalet with friends for a bit more space and flexibility. I love the idea of slow, outdoorsy days – Alpine playgrounds, lake swims and toboggan runs, which sound like absolute heaven for my toddler. After that, we’re planning to head over to Lake Annecy for a week or so. I’ve come across some incredible Airbnbs with beautiful lakeside views, and Talloires – a small village about 20 minutes south of Annecy – keeps coming up. Late August into early September feels like the perfect time to go, when things are a little quieter – ideal for lazy lake ‘beach’ days and long, unhurried strolls with incredible scenery.”

“My husband and I have not been away without our children for quite some time so I'm looking forward to a few days of early summer sunshine at METT Marbella. It's an adults-only hotel right on the beach with amazing views of the Mediterranean. I like the clean, contemporary style of the rooms and suites and the pool area reminds me of a South Beach Miami property I visited years ago. It's not an area I know but the location looked interesting – it's set between buzzy Marbella and the Andalusian mountains, an area of dramatic natural beauty. I'm keen to walk an aerial trail known as the Caminito del Rey, in the Gaitanes Gorge’s walls nearby. Other than that, as we're only there for a short time and will want to 'fly and flop', there are a variety of restaurants to choose from within the hotel, so we may not even leave.”

“I want to explore more of Europe this year, by foot and by food. I'm looking into some hiking spots – nothing too strenuous, just great scenery and not too many people. There's Hotel Hubertus in the Dolomites that has direct access to almost 300 kilometres of trails, which looks amazing. For food, San Sebastian is top of my list but I also want to tick Bologna and its famous tortellini and mortadella off my list.”

“A huge motivation for my move to London was to have Europe on my doorstep, so I’m planning to squeeze in as much travel as I can this summer, starting with Corsica. I love the south of France, and have heard the island has that same feel but is a bit more rugged and less of a scene. My friends and I have booked a villa, and the agenda is blissfully simple: reading by the pool, finding quiet beaches and exploring old towns like Bonifacio. A boat day is non-negotiable – I can practically taste the long lunches with fresh seafood and local rosé. It just sounds like the perfect low-key alternative to St Tropez.”

“I’ve had a quiet start to the year after a busy end to 2025 which included a couple of weeks in Peru, followed immediately by a week in the Norwegian Fjords. That changes next month. First, I’m visiting India for the first time, exploring the Rajasthan area. Both hotels I’m staying at are in the national park that’s home to elusive Bengal tigers, so I’m hoping the 6am dawn Jeep safari I’ve booked gets lucky. Tigers aside, I’m looking forward to some sunrise hill fort treks, eating ayurvedic food and doing a couple of laps in Amanbagh’s gorgeous pool.
“After that, I’m heading down to Cape Town. I visited South Africa about 18 months ago but spent most of my time out in the winelands. This time, I’m visiting for a full five days, staying at the pretty-in-pink Mount Nelson hotel. I can’t wait to have a coffee overlooking Table Mountain – and I’ve bookmarked a couple of restaurants a Cape Town chef I interviewed for SLMan recommended (plus these from SL contributor Natalie Chassey). Finally, I’m hoping to head back to The Rooster on Antiparos for a Greek getaway at the end of the summer. It’s probably the most relaxing hotel I’ve ever stayed at.”
