The Best Street Style & Biggest Trends From Copenhagen Fashion Week

Last week, all eyes were on Copenhagen Fashion Week. Covering the runways and the streets, SL’s fashion broadcaster Polly Sayer was on the ground to round up the standout moments and main takeaways…

FROM THE RUNWAY

Sheer Fabrics

A major trend going into AW24, sheer fabrics look set to make their mark on SS25 as well – this time, in a greater number of iterations: see ethereal organza at Remain and loose-knit crochet and romantic lace dresses at Rodarte. Elsewhere, Gestuz teamed a modest sequinned skirt with a matching hued boxy blazer and slouchy 80s boots – a look we’ll definitely be recreating.

Sports Luxe

After a Euro summer, it seems ‘football core’ is going nowhere. While OpéraSport put a more subtle spin on the trend with striped jerseys and feminine skirts, Baum und Pferdarten went into full-on sports mode with its stadium venue and bejewelled football-shaped bags.

Butter Yellow

The hints of butter yellow at Rotate and Remain made for some of the most lust-worthy looks. At Remain it was with leather separates, while Rotate used it in its feminine dresses.

Capris

If Copenhagen Fashion Week is anything to go by, they’re here to stay. Rotate, Gestuz, Baum und Pferdgarten and Remain all had some iteration of capri pants in their shows, mainly styled with oversized jackets, cropped tops and billowy shirts. Still not convinced? Look to street style star and model Vera van Erp for a masterclass in how to make them chic.

FROM THE STREETS

Bag Charms

Copenhagen is arguably the most ‘fun’ fashion week, so it’s hardly a surprise that stuffed toys and kitsch souvenir keyrings were spied on Marianne Theordsen, Caetanaba and countless more. We predict this will be a big trend – so check out Anya Hindmarch if you’re keen to tap into it.

Red

Red remains one of the most popular colour choices for fashion girls, both in more statement looks, as well as in their accessories. Grece Ghanem’s sporty Celine look really turned heads.

Long Shorts

An unusually warm week in the Danish capital offered up the perfect opportunity for street style stars to sport Bermuda shorts. Scandi style star Janka Polliani styled a denim pair with a striped, cropped polo.

Look Of The Week: Vera van Erp

Model and stylist Vera van Erp showed everyone how to make capris work with a cinched in jacket and a form-fitting lower half. Copenhagen is known for its colourful fashion, but Vera proves monochrome can still make the biggest impact.
