The Jewellery

Let’s try to keep this one a little under-the-radar please. I don’t want everyone knowing about Outhouse, an Indian label with stores in New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, which creates sculptural mixed-metal ear cuffs, stackable resin bangles and almost comically oversized necklaces and charms. It's one for the those who don’t want to look like everyone else.

The Colour

None of us thought we’d ever be considering Cadbury purple as a fashion win but here we are. If Monikh and Charlotte Sanders are on board, then who are we to argue? Straight out of Michael Rider’s Celine playbook, the coolest people are injecting just a little suggestion of the shade – a low-slung waist-tied jumper here, a bag-clutched-under-the-arm there – to otherwise brown and camel-hued outfits. As a Rider-stan, I actually had my first purple moment last season, snapping up a thin ribbed knit from Zara. All that’s left is to pluck up the courage to wear it…

The Accessory

I love a trend that gives your wardrobe staples a fresh lease of life. Thanks to Valentino, the cummerbund is having a pre-Autumn moment and I'll be using my Barbie-pink Zara iteration to give classic tailored trousers and a crisp shirt a twist. You don't have to invest in a pastel version – I like the idea of stealing a traditional black style from the boys and putting a surprisingly androgynous spin on any evening look.

The Plant

My olive tree and I have been on a journey. Murdered by an inexperienced gardener, ChatGPT has helped me nurse the poor thing back to life – and so renewed is my confidence in my horticulture skills, I've just purchased three more from my favourite plant supplier, PlantDrop. My once forlorn, empty London "garden" is now transformed into a Spanish-inspired oasis thanks to the simple addition of these three beauties, potted by PlantDrop into stylish terracotta pots. Whether you're after something similar or a chic indoor fig tree, a spiky giant cactus or a show-stopping date palm, they tick every box.

The Watch

I tried watching season one of FX's Adults a while ago but couldn't get on board with the pilot. Apparently I wasn't the only one; whilst filming season two, the cast recorded a prequel, intended to replace the original first episode which they felt did the show an injustice. They weren't wrong – the new intro is laugh-out-loud funny and follows the lives of a group of (incestuous) friends muddling through their 20s in their Queens NYC flat share. The entire series is created for those who are chronically online – it stars social media celebrities Jack Innanen and Owen Thiele – and season two is full of TikTok-themed easter eggs.

The Opening

As a rule, you should feel guilty about eating non-French food in Paris, unless it's at Dumbo for the most famous burger in the world. Brits no longer have to cross the Channel to get our fix – a Shoreditch outpost has just opened and I predict a flurry of cool kids and brand dinners heading east to sample the famously pared-back menu.

The Shoe

A term coined last year to reflect the trend for bulbous, inelegant, brown chunky footwear (see Birkenstock Bostons and JW Anderson's Stitch Loafers), 'potato shoes' are going nowhere for this autumn. For those committed to the cause like me, there are plenty of shapeless clog-styles out there – however, a few more streamlined versions, like the ones from M&S, play it a little safer.

The Stay

As a part-time summer Mallorca resident, I've been watching the progress at the once tired Punta Negra hotel in Calvià with much anticipation, eagerly awaiting the Mandarin Oriental's takeover of the property. Lucky enough to stay there in early August, it was everything I'd hope from a Balearic opening from the storied group – pretty, sprawling grounds, a sea view, gorgeous coves nestled into the cliff edges and mega dining options, including famed Spanish steakhouse Leña's first Mallorca outpost. Don't sleep on the spa either, the massages are transformative.

The Event

Attending Edinburgh festival is still high on my bucket list but in the meantime, a collaboration with the Young Vic allows those of us down south to see the best of this year’s line-up. From comedy to drama, the London playhouse is putting on a roster of shows for the next month – based on nothing but instinct, I booked to see Sex Idiot, a blend of cabaret, dance and storytelling about one woman’s STI diagnosis. Wish me luck.
