3 Cool Brands To Know

Here at SL, it’s our job to keep you in the know about the newest and most discerning fashion brands out there. From the brand set up by an ex-Raey designer and former model to a specialist in printed co-ords, here are the labels we’re loving right now.

Vernisse

Founded in 2019 by Eugenia Penta and Francesca Filipo, Vernise started life as a made-to-order brand offering one-of-a-kind pieces crafted from antique fabrics and silk scarves. Today, it offers small collections of timeless pieces with a focus on tailoring and unique prints – all linked together by Roman and Mediterranean influences. Cool co-ords come in coconut daisy prints, while a pair of classic black trousers are dressed up with a polka dot bow. Everything is hand-crafted in Italy by expert artisanal tailors too. Testament to its growing popularity, Vernise collaborated with jewellery favourite YSSO earlier this year on the Tilda shirt – a cotton poplin style with five individually designed jewellery buttons.

Vespertine

British-based fashion brand Vespertine is the brainchild of designer Katy Close, formerly of MATCHESFASHION’s own brand Raey, and model Lili Sumner. Inspired by the 70s rock scene, the brand blends music culture with vintage fashion and the result is a collection of sexy, feminine pieces with a whimsical edge. From delicate silk camis to frill-detail blouses and slinky dresses, every piece is crafted from 100% silk and finished with meticulous French seams, ensuring the utmost quality and attention to fit and detail. Committed to reducing waste, Vespertine also transforms leftover fabric into pretty co-ordinating underwear, including French knickers.

Vanina

Beirut-born brand Vanina was founded as a jewellery brand by Tatiana Fayad and Joanne Hayek in 2007, but now offers seasonal ready-to-wear collections, as well as shoes and accessories. Everything in the feminine-centric line is hand-crafted in Lebanon. We love the Epine de Rose and Shell bustier tops, as well as the intricately crafted and embellished Soubresaunt clutch.
