Colombe Campana’s Summer Fashion, Interiors & Travel Favourites

You might know Paris label Call It By Your Name for its signature bandana-print pieces and all-round dopamine-inducing style. Its founder Colombe likes to have just as much fun with travel, interiors and her own wardrobe. Here’s what she’s loving right now…

The Everyday Faithful

My go-to look when I don’t know what to wear is vintage Levi’s, a striped shirt most likely from The Frankie Shop or vintage Ralph Lauren – or maybe Call It By Your Name – and suede boat shoes from Miu Miu. I’ll swap the shoes out sometimes for vintage Chanel ballerinas in denim and often tie the whole look together with a belt from Silver Ostrich.

The Summer Look

If I’m on holiday or it’s warmer in Paris, I’ll reach for something more like a printed pyjama shirt. Years ago, I made a few in India years ago that I mix with some printed pareos or sarongs – which I buy mainly at Simrane in Paris – plus a pair of Tropézienne strappy sandals, most likely from my collab with K Jacques. I also love silky sets. I’ve designed lots with a mix of Hawaiian and bandana prints, and love wearing them day or night on holiday.

The Palette

I am pretty solidly known as a colour person, but right now I’m actually enjoying more pastel, feminine tones like violet and baby pink. I recently bought a cashmere cardigan in a pinky crimson and it makes me so happy when I wear it. I think that’s why I love colour so much – it’s a mood booster.

The Shoe

I used to wear heels every single day, but have now gone in the opposite direction and wear flats for any occasion. As well as those Miu Miu suede boat shoes and vintage Chanel ballerinas in denim, my go-tos include flat gladiator-style sandals from a new brand called Trenza. I’ve also got some red ballerinas from Bobo’s I’ve been reaching for on repeat.

The Swim Hero

I wear really minimal two-pieces. I’ve shopped at ERES for these since I was 20 – I think I have Le Mouna in about ten colours. For an all-in-one, I wear Hunza G – both shapes are simple, timeless and well cut. In terms of newness, I’ve got my eyes on Lido and Soeur’s collaboration – particularly the one-piece.

The Bag

Like everyone, I reach for straw baskets, though we’ve just launched the Sac Seau. It’s a bucket style that’s a perfect day-to-night bag for adding some fun and colour to your looks.

The Beach Must-Haves

My maxi Cabas tote is the ideal plane-to-beach tote as you can throw your entire life in there. I also often take oversized hats on a beach holiday – to protect me from the sun and to look stylish. I also love wrap skirts and sarongs as coverups.

The Jewellery

I am very eclectic with my jewellery. Charlotte Chesnais’s new Shima collection is a masterpiece. Repossi is a brand I’ve worn every day for the past four years. Yvonne Léon’s Heart Chevaliere in lapis lazuli is one of my most prized everyday jewels. Marie Lichtenberg is known for cool lockets – I wear mine every day and just love everything she does. For something cool and fun, Salomé Rico is the brand to know. I have my eye on the Gelato ring, which feels spot on for summer. I love wearing fun multi-coloured beaded bracelets and necklaces at this time of year – for the most part, they’re handmade by my kids.

The Beauty Essentials

Sisley sun creams and SPFs are my favourites – as are its hair collections, which really protect hair against any form of damage. I recently discovered PERS for skincare that’s both chic and effective. Dr Janka makes it into my routine every day, as do the cream blusher sticks from Westman Atelier and my trusty Clinique concealer.

The New Find

The Boum Boum milk from Violette is a new favourite I can’t stop talking about. I spray it on my face and in my hair to keep me fresh and hydrated all day long. I also recently picked up a brush from La Bonne Brosse. I have really curly hair and it is such a saviour, plus I love the design.

The Summer Fragrance

My go-to is À Fleur de Pêche from L'Artisan Parfumeur. It’s basically summer bottled, and has the perfect balance of fruity, sweet and fresh.

The Wellness Escape

One of my favourite wellness destinations is Chateau de Launay in Brittany. I did a vegetable detox there which consisted of five days of yoga, forest walks, ayurvedic massages and 100% vegetarian food made by an amazing chef. I also went for an ayurvedic retreat in Kerala four years ago at Somatheeram. I am planning to go again before the end of the year – it's a life changing experience.

The Sounds

I wake up with the radio, and listen to podcasts and music all day long. I like cold-case podcasts – ‘affaires sensibles’ we call them in France. I also love the entrepreneurial podcast The Bold Way from Adrien Garcia.

The Book

Right now, I am working my way through Gabrïele by Anne and Claire Berest – the biography of their great grandmother, who was the wife of the painter Francis Picabia.

The Summer Cocktail

It’s pretty much always a Moscow Mule. With one of these in my hand and a great outfit on, I am always ready to party.

The Table Details

When hosting, I’ll always whip out my bandana table sets and linen embroidered tablecloths. When it comes to glasses and a carafe, mine are from La Romaine Editions.

The Alfresco Lunch Spot

In Paris, I would go to the terrace at Le Petit Celestin – or for a picnic in the Luxembourg Garden with some delicious sandwiches from Carette. For a day getaway close to Paris, the dream is L'Abbaye des Vaux de Cernay for a lunch and a stroll in the park – or a pedalo on the lake. I have never seen such a gem of a hotel, and it’s got an incredible spa too.

 The Getaway

We have a house in St Tropez. It's a super chill place to spend time together with friends and family –lots of kids running around and parents drinking rosé. It’s my depiction of the perfect holiday. For time with my other half, it would be Hotel Les Maisons De Bricourt in Cancale or a weekend trip to Los Enamorados in Ibiza.

And This Is Colombe’s Little Black Book Of Brands…

Shiloh Heritage: Known for its handmade western-style boots, its new Magic Chestnut style in brown is one I’d love to wear with lots of anklets and a good tan.

Silver Ostrich: This small brand is one of my favourites for belts. Crafted in Italy, every single piece is a showstopper.

Trenza: This new Spanish brand does the best sandals – perfect for summer in the city or for an effortless beach look.

Issey Miyake: I’ve fallen back in love with its pleated dress. I dare you to think of something easier to throw into your luggage that’ll look incredibly chic in a number of holiday scenarios.

Suzie Kondi: I’m simply obsessed with her striped kaftans and her knitwear.

Nackiyé: This Turkish brand is one I discovered for its incredible dresses. My next purchase will probably be its fisherman overcoat in the ‘Leo’ print.

Fallon & ReSEE: I’ve always been a huge vintage fan, and these two are my go-tos for their unique curation.

Pomandère: If you’re after easy shirts that aren't everywhere already, this is a must-know.

Jinji: This menswear shop in Paris has a great selection of Japanese casualwear. I highly recommend visiting if you’re after a ‘borrowed from the boys’ vibe.
