THE BAG
As the new season approaches, I’m thinking less about a complete wardrobe overhaul and more about the pieces that will make what I already own feel fresh. For me, autumn/winter is always about colour, texture and a few carefully chosen statement pieces – and bags is where I’m planning to start.
The bag I’m most keen to get my hands on is an Elli Vivaldi. I love the colour and texture of each design and the fact that every piece feels so individual. The one-offs and special drops make them feel genuinely unique, rather than something everyone is carrying. I’ll be keeping a close eye on the weekly releases.

THE COLOUR
Purple is going to be the colour of the season. It can be a bit Marmite – people tend to love it or avoid it completely – but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how versatile it is. This isn’t just an out-of-the-air prediction either. Royal purple appeared across the autumn/winter 2026 collections at Celine, Loewe, Mugler, Tory Burch and Balenciaga.
It plays so well with other colours too. Purple with chocolate brown feels rich and sophisticated, while purple with red has a wonderfully confident energy. If a purple coat or dress feels like too much, I’d start with a bag, shoe, scarf or knit. Even a soft aubergine jumper with camel trousers could bring the trend into an everyday wardrobe.
THE PRINT
My other new-season rule is to treat animal print as a neutral. For mel, leopard works in much the same way as brown, tan or navy, and this season there’s been an explosion of leopard, snakeskin, bambi and tiger prints.
The easiest way to wear it is through accessories. A leopard-print belt, shoe or scarf can add interest to denim and knitwear, while a snakeskin bag looks beautiful with tailoring or a camel coat. For a bigger statement, I’d choose one strong piece and let it do the talking: think a tiger-print coat over black trousers, a leopard skirt with a fine knit or snakeskin boots with tailored bermuda shorts.
THE BRAND
The brand I’m most excited about is Susanna Chow. I love the mother-and-daughter story and it’s the outerwear that’s really caught my attention. The coats, suede pieces and shearling styles are exactly the kind of statement items I want: luxurious, distinctive and easy to build an outfit around. I can already imagine wearing one of the coats with a simple knit, straight-leg jeans and an Elli Vivaldi bag.

THE EVENT
Lagos Fashion Week is an event I’ll be watching closely. It’s become one of the most exciting platforms for African creativity, bringing together fashion, culture, craftsmanship and conversations around sustainability. Recent editions have highlighted designers including Onalaja, Banke Kuku, Desirée Iyamah, Orange Culture, Emmy Kasbit, Bubu Ogisi of Iamisigo and Hertunba.
Onalaja is one to watch for sculptural, polished womenswear, while Banke Kuku is known for expressive prints and colour. Desirée Iyamah brings a beautifully confident, feminine feel, and Orange Culture continues to challenge ideas around identity and modern Nigerian fashion. I’m also excited by Hertunba’s bold prints and artisanal details, as well as Bubu Ogisi’s imaginative approach to recycled materials. For me, Lagos Fashion Week represents exactly what fashion should be: individual, innovative and rooted in a strong point of view.
