The Denim Brands & Styles The Fashion Team Really Rate

Jeans are the cornerstone of many people’s wardrobes but with so many styles to choose from, finding the perfect fit can be tricky. To narrow the search, we asked the fashion team and friends of SL to share their go-to brands and tell us how they’re styling their favourite pairs right now…

FEDERICA LABANCA

Ayla Baggy Jeans, | Citizens Of Humanity

I’m not normally a denim girl but these are just so versatile that they’ve become my go-to. If I wear jeans, I’ll only wear them with heels, and these are long and wide enough to make a heel look good.

SAPNA RAO

Horizon Mid Rise Wide Leg Jeans | Topshop

There’s no doubt we've all had a pair of Topshop jeans in our wardrobe at some point or another. While the Joni aren’t my vibe these days, this darker wash with a wide leg is such a versatile choice. I've paired them with a simple knit and fringed cape – plus, my favourite sunnies and loafers.

SARAH LOUISE BLYTHE

V-Waist Kelly Jeans | Agolde

My favourite brand for denim right now is LA-based AGOLDE. Its ethos is design, sustainability and comfort, and it really delivers on all fronts. Drawing inspiration from the classics, the seasonal styles come in several washes. We've seen a huge shift towards a skinnier leg this season and the Kelly Jeans are a great middle ground. Plus, they work with several shoe styles, which I find is always the trickiest part of styling jeans.

BILLIE BHATIA

Curve Sydney Denim Barrel Leg Jeans, | Arrange

I've avoided wearing jeans for years because it was near impossible to find cool, plus-sized denim. However, there's a pair of black barrel-leg jeans in the new ASOS ARRANGE collection that are stiff to begin with but in time, soften to your body for the perfect fit. There’s no gaping back, no saggy knees or trawling hemlines – I’ve stocked up in every colour.

LISA GRENN

Sterling Classic Blue Denim Jeans | Dissh

I've only recently discovered Dissh and I absolutely love the jeans. The wide-legged, high-waisted fit is so flattering and comfortable; they’ve quickly become a staple in my wardrobe. I'm looking forward to styling them with a simple white shirt and sandals.

EMMA BIGGER

Mid Rise Barrel Jeans | Abercrombie & Fitch

At 5'2", finding jeans that are the right length can be a struggle but Abercrombie & Fitch gets it right every time. The shorter lengths mean no rushed trips to the tailor, and the washes are always on point. These barrel-leg jeans have become my go-to; they are great for work but equally work just as well with trainers at the weekend.

KARINA MARRIOTT

Super Soft Wide Jeans | Mint Velvet

Mint Velvet’s high-rise, wide-leg jeans are 100% cotton so they have structure but still hug my curves. There’s also no waist gap or awkward fit – I have a smaller waist and wider hips – so my faith in high-street denim is officially restored.

FLORENCE EYRES

Ribcage High Rise Wide Leg Jeans | Levi's

I love how iconic Levi’s is. To me, this brand is timeless and what I especially like is the quality; the styles don’t lose their shape over time. I am wearing a darker wash, high-rise pair here that are the perfect length for boots. I’ve also added a light barn jacket and suede accessories. I love the fit of the Levi’s 501 – I wear them with flats in spring and sandals in the summer.

SAROOP SANGHA

Sasha Distressed Wide-Leg Jeans | Paige

Paige is one of those go-to denim brands that always gets it right – the fits are reliable and there are so many styles to choose from. This washed blue pair has that perfect wide-leg shape that works with everything. I’ve gone for a slightly polished look with boots and a textured blazer, but they’re just as easy to dress down with trainers. The suede bag and satin scarf add a bit of texture and interest.
