I tend to keep it really classic with trenches. This one from Mango will be a go-to this spring. Striped trousers are such a great alternative to jeans and I’m excited to finally be able to switch out trainers for ballet flats – I love this square toe satin pair from ASOS. To finish the look, I’ve added a simple grey jumper, a tan bag and classic sunglasses.

This sky-blue leather trench screams spring. The cut is timeless, too, so I know I will wear it for years to come. Plus, it will work so well with what’s already in my wardrobe. The tie belt also cinches me in at the waist to create a great shape.

I like a beige trench coat but preferably with an oversized cut. I'm not big on belting them; instead, I prefer to loosely tie the belt in the back. This H&M mac is seriously good quality, and the fact that it's long makes it look way more expensive than it actually is.

There's no reason your wardrobe staples shouldn't feel a bit different and this navy trench is a great example – it's an update on the usual beige but will still work with most neutrals and stay in your wardrobe for seasons to come. Navy and white is a classic combo for me, and cream heels complete the look.

A hardworking trench is the kind of piece you can throw over any look – you don’t need to overthink it; it’s all about the shape and colour. An oversized cut will sit comfortably over any silhouette, and I tend to opt for a lighter, more stone-washed colour as it’s a more complimentary tone for the rest of my wardrobe.

I need my wardrobe to be practical and this hooded trench coat more than fits the brief. Its timeless shape lends itself well to a coloured sweatshirt and silver accessories. To refine the look, add a structured bag – like this chocolate brown one.
