For the winter, I need a wool black or navy long coat, preferably under £500…
COS does wool coats so well – especially a tailored silhouette – and I also love this lighter style. Elsewhere, & Other Stories has a great offering and this belted Mango coat also caught my eye.
What are some of your favourite high-street pieces this autumn/winter?
I’m loving this Topshop lace detail top. It would work so perfectly with jeans and a heel for an evening out. This Aligne teddy jacket is such a useful piece and I love the detachable scarf. M&S is also great right now – I love the rich burgundy of this argyle jumper and this little satin pouch will go with everything.
Denim – are we really moving towards slim-leg jeans again?
There’s definitely been a shift towards a slimmer silhouette in recent months. I bought this pair from Massimo Dutti and really like wearing them with a ballet flat. However, I do still love a more relaxed wide leg, especially with a boot. It’s good to think about which jeans work with which shoes. Ultimately, it's all about what’s most comfortable for you. With Nothing Underneath recently launched denim and I tried all the styles; the quality is amazing. The Fawcett is my favourite but the Crawford cut is so chic if you want to try a slimmer fit.
I’m attending a wedding in November and need to know what to wear…
There are a few brands I would recommend looking at. Norma Kamali does this Obie draped detail dress in several colours – it’s so beautiful – and Simkhai also has some similar silhouettes. A winter wedding is the perfect time to lean into the cape detail trend. Other brands I would suggest include Rotate – it has some lovely burgundy styles – Shona Joy and Reformation. On the high street, this Zara sequinned number is great and Pretty Lavish has some beautiful options too.
Could you recommend a good everyday ankle boot?
Neous is a go-to of mine for shoes – the pieces are really premium. The Nervia is a style you’d have forever. Dear Frances is another one. The Topo boot comes in the softest leather. For something more affordable, try Massimo Dutti – the heel height here makes these boots so wearable. Finally, this Whistles pair look so versatile.
Is there a good work bag out there? I’m on a high-street budget but want it to look high end…
Look at Sézane. The new collection includes lots of bags and the Basile looks especially good for work. I also love the shape of this leather bag from Massimo Dutti for something a little different. Don’t forget the COS Trullo bag is set to re-stock soon. It launched this season and has been a sell-out. Finally, a belted tote feels like a modern choice – I’d snap up this suede Mango one.
