The COS sale is really strong right now. I’m after some darker wash denim and I love this twisted barrel silhouette for something a little different. I always look out for investment knitwear in the sales and & Daughter is a brand I consistently check, as is TOTEME – I love this jumper and these fluffy TOTEME shoes are also so cute. The H&M sale is also great and I love the sleeve detail on this cable-knit jumper and the shawl shape of this faux-fur coat.

Sale season is the perfect time to bite the bullet on those higher-ticket items you’ve been contemplating. For me, that was the case with more directional pieces like these fluffy H&M shoes and this ARKET suede bag. It’s also a huge win to see the Khaite jeans and Saint Laurent sunnies I’ve been eyeing up go into the sale. Elsewhere, it’s the ideal time to top up on boring but much-needed staples, such as a great knit or a pair of work trousers.

I’m focusing on pieces that feel like smart, long-term investments rather than trend-led buys. It’s a brilliant time to snap up designer outerwear at half price – I’m always drawn to timeless coats with great tailoring that I know I’ll wear year after year. Knitwear is another key area I’m investing in; I look for classic crew-necks in versatile colours that will slot seamlessly into my wardrobe. You can also find some great bags in the sales right now – I love adding a pop of colour as it’s an easy way to lift everyday looks.

My approach to sale shopping is simple: if I wouldn’t have considered buying it at full price, it doesn’t make the cut. These pieces should still feel like like long-term additions rather than impulse buys. January dressing, for me, is about comfort and warmth without looking scruffy; I’ve never been a puffer person, so faux fur and shearling-style layers from COS and Topshop are a more considered alternative, instantly elevating even the simplest base. Knitwear stays classic and tactile – mohair blends, ribbed merino and neutral tones that work hard across the seasons. Accessories are where the sales really come into their own, with capsule colours, considered shapes and quality materials adding quiet polish without dating quickly.
