I love this kind of knee-high boot – the track sole feels very contemporary and promises to add bit of edge to a skirt or a midi dress.

A mini skirt with a chunky sweater is one of my favourite autumn looks – just add a boxy blazer and you’re good to go. This one from Massimo Dutti is high up on my wish list – the khaki green gives it a slightly grungier feel, which will look great with cream and black.

A knitted dress is a must on chilly days. I’ll be styling this one with a matching knitted trouser and Birkenstocks now, then platform boots later.

2. Asymmetrical Mini Skirt With Patch Pockets, £69.95 | Massimo Dutti
3.High-Shaft Chunky Leather Boots, £290 | Arket

These Paris Texas knee-high boots are top of my new season wish list. I bought the cream pair last year and they were so useful, sand the black will be just as chic and comfortable; they elevate every outfit.

You can’t go wrong with stripes – especially right now. They’re having a moment, but a Breton knit is such a classic and can be worn year after year. I love this one from Arket as it’s such a great shape – I’ll be wearing mine with jeans and boots layered over a white tee, with either a trench or quilted jacket on top.

A quilted puffer jacket is must-have and I’ve worn this green one so much already.  It’s lightweight and looks so chic worn over a dress or with jeans. Wear on its own or under a bigger coat when it’s cold – stylish as well as practical.

2. Padded Collarless Puffer Jacket, £55 | Per Una
3. 60 Black Lizard-Effect Leather Knee-High Boots, £560 | Paris Texas

I had my eye on this Isabel Marant gilet last season before it sold out, but thankfully it’s back again for another season. It’s pretty expensive, but it’s perfect for transitional dressing and the shoulders make such a statement – I love the textured shearling material, too.

When it comes to boots, the chunkier the better and these ones from Ganni will work with shorts, dresses and denim. A totally worthwhile investment, you can wear them with everything, whatever the weather.

This dress is what I call an ‘easy wearer’, as you can throw it on and style it up or down. The wrap waist and big sleeves are what drew me to it – just add a pair of boots for a relaxed day look or heels and some red lippy for a night out with the girls.

1. Relaxed Midi Wrap Dress, £85 | & Other Stories
2. Chunky Leather Chelsea Boots, £345 | Ganni
 3. Gwendae Fleece Gilet, £775 | Isabel Marant

I’m moving house later this year, so anything I do invest in for myself needs to prove its worth. This Anine Bing coat will elevate just about any look.

The easiest way to transition your wardrobe into the new season is by adding a great pair of boots and no one does suede styles quite like Isabel Marant. I’ll be pairing these with my summer dresses now and jeans and cosy knits once the weather gets colder.

Cashmere is my weakness and the offering on the high street gets better every year. I usually steal my husband’s sweaters, but I will definitely be treating myself to this one from H&M – leave your hair tucked in, then add shades and leather leggings for an easy autumn look.

1. Hunter Coat, €699 | Anine Bing
2. Dernee Suede Ankle Boots, £495 | Isabel Marant
3. Cashmere Mix Polo Neck Jumper, £79.99 | H&M

I usually buy one new coat each year and I love the longer length of this herringbone wool style. It’ll go perfectly with my autumn/winter uniform of jumpers, jeans and boots.

I’m still not over the trauma of shrinking my favourite Isabel Marant jumper in the wash years ago… but this one is almost identical to it. Like coats, I tend to invest in one new jumper every winter; this could be ’the one’.

True, I have pretty substantial collection of white dresses already, but not all are suitable for winter layering – this one is more lightweight, making it great for wearing under tweed blazers and with knee-high boots. Plus, the higher neckline will look cute peeking out from under a chunky knit.

1. Estelle Sweater, £540 | Isabel Marant
2. Buttoned Wool Coat, £205 | & Other Stories
 3. Amaryllis Dress, £180 | Meadows

I adore these floral trousers by Isabel Marant. Style them with a chunky, cable knit sweater or a blazer and change the shoes depending on your plans – low heels for the evening, or sneakers for running errands.

This coat looks so cosy. Size up to make it big and oversized, then pair it with sneakers or biker boots.

You can’t go wrong with a cream cable knit – this one is the perfect level of chunky and would work nicely with the floral trousers.

I've long been obsessed with Bottega Veneta's boots but these are one of my all-time favourites. Style them with a trench or girly dress to add some edge.

Every girl needs a great trench coat and I fell in love with this one the minute I saw it last year in By Malene Birger’s store in Copenhagen. The oversized storm flaps and collar details are what set it apart from the rest.

Who doesn’t love a good knitted dress – especially one that comes in two parts? I love how you can combine the collar part with another piece in your wardrobe, and knit dresses are just so comfortable.

1. Noa Layered Stretch-Knit Midi Dress, £545 | Nanushka

I always look forward to the start of slightly cooler weather, because it means I can wear a trench coat again – whether it’s layered over a blazer or with a tracksuit, they’re just so effortless. I love the colour of this Weekday style, which will go with countless outfits.

You can never have too much knitwear – I’m trying to lean towards lighter colours before we get right into the depths of winter, so this one is perfect. I see myself wearing it with lots of gold jewellery.

I can’t be the only one lusting after The Row’s zipper boots, but until I can stomach the price tag, these are an amazing alternative. I can really vouch for the quality of Copenhagen Studios, too.

1. Travis Oversized Trench Coat, £125 | Weekday
2. Cropped Turtleneck Knit Sweater, £85 | & Other Stories
3. CPH525 Vitello Black Boots, €229 | Copenhagen Studios

Sara Ramén @SaraLoura

I love the idea of a colourful vest to throw over a shirt. Transitional weather calls for layering, so it’s both a great way to brighten a grey day and to keep warm.

If you want something a little different to jeans, but still want to look casual, try these cord trousers. I’ve had my eye on them for a while – pair them with high top converse, a dramatic collared shirt and a colourful vest.

I just bought two shirts by La Veste and love wearing them with high waisted denim. The brand’s designs are full of character, plus they’re made responsibly in Spain.

 1. Florence Cotton-Blend Corduroy Flared Pants, £400 | Nili Lotan
2. Ziggy Striped Crochet Sweater Vest, £390 | Sea
3. School Shirt 06, €75 (was €150) | La Veste

Sarah Louise Blythe @SarahLouiseBlythe

I had my eye on this jacket at the beginning of the year in green, so I was pleased to see The Frankie Shop have just released it in four new colours. I’ve bought it in brown, but I love the black, too. The boxy silhouette is just so cool – the perfect jacket to elevate a relaxed tracksuit.

Autumn means it’s time to dig out your statement knitwear. This season, I’ve got my eye on this Totême striped jumper – a cult classic that keeps on giving. Style it with a pair of stirrup leggings and Prada loafers for a smart/casual look.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers are such a staple, but this season I want to upgrade to something a little chicer. This square framed Prada pair caught my attention – the ideal way to accessorise a pair of jeans and boyfriend shirt.

1. Quilted Padded Ripstop Jacket, £245 | The Frankie Shop
2. Striped Merino Wool Turtleneck Sweater, £430 | Toteme
3. Black Sunglasses, £175.09 | Prada

Sarah White @SarahWhite_86

When the temperature drops, I want a coat I can throw over everything. While I'm not quite ready for heavy wool, this quilted beauty from Mango is the perfect in-between option. The green adds a nice touch of colour but it’s still tonal enough to work with most of your wardrpbe. Plus, the belt adds a bit of shape, which is a good thing when it comes to layering up.

I love the versatility of this Holzweiler dress – I’ve got so many ideas for styling it during this period. Wear it with a leather jacket and slides now, then when it gets really cold, layer a sheer polo neck underneath with tall leather boots.

I love a big tote – they add interest to an outfit and, naturally, they’re very practical, too. The canvas body of this Proenza Schouler design keeps it light, while the dark leather trim adds a slick, detail.

1. Nim Pointelle-Knit Cotton Midi Dress, £170 | Holzweiler
2. Morris Leather-Trimmed Coated Canvas Tote, £480 | Proenza Schoulder White Label
3. Belt Quilted Coat, £89.99 | Mango
