How The SL Team Are Decorating Their Christmas Trees

This year, I'm dreaming of a white Christmas tree. Against its natural evergreen backdrop, I love how pearl garlands and satin touches quietly pop, adding layers of interest and texture. I also think the way the crystal and fluted glass baubles catch the light is so pretty. Finally, I'm going for a giant bow tree topper – it's been a big trend this year, so I'm embracing the look.

I always like to start with the lights – it's all about cluster lights in warm yellow. Next, it’s the baubles – this year, I’m going for rich, lacquered burgundies and soft, mirrored golds. For the final touches, it's velvet accents and small brass stars with dusty pink ribbons, as well as some larger ribbons for a more traditional nod.

This Christmas will be my first since completing my flat renovation and I’m excited to dress the space in a way that complements its earthy, considered colour palette. I’m leaning into warm brown, amber and gold tones for the tree, mixing paper hanging decorations with glass baubles and natural pinecones. My favourite piece has to be the glass disco-ball bauble – an unexpected touch that still feels elegant and cohesive with the overall scheme.

I like to decorate my Christmas tree the old-fashioned way – rich reds, classic greens and metallic touches that will catch the light. There’s something comforting about sticking with a theme, layering familiar colours and textures that make the whole room feel warm, festive and familiar.
