Editor's Letter: July

Dear readers,

This isn’t just any old start to the month – it’s our first month as official winners of the PPA’s Media Brand of the Year. Coupled with the news last week that we’ve been shortlisted for Best Use of TikTok and Social Media As Entertainment nods at the UK Social Media Awards, we should have a very proud team going into July. That doesn’t mean we’re resting on our laurels though – as ever, we’re bringing you lots of newness as summer finally gets off the ground. 

The SheerLuxe Restaurant & Bar Awards are back for a second year – taking on a new and improved look, we’re celebrating old London favourites and newbies across both SL and LG, and it’s only a few weeks until you can have your say. Our lifestyle team are even more qualified to curate the capital’s best foodie destinations after a month of partnerships that saw them pop up everywhere from Taste of London to Pub in the Park, and we’re continuing to embrace the summer season across all platforms – keep an eye out for Wimbledon content across social today and throughout the next couple of weeks, as well as F1, Soho House Fest and the best of the rest of July’s events too.

In addition to having a new recruit, the beauty team have roped in some major names in the last few weeks – from Jonathan Van Ness’s hair advice on TikTok to Gucci Westman’s make-up tips on Beauty School to Bobbi Brown’s life story on our podcast, the industry’s best have all been sharing their advice with us. In July, that includes facialist to the stars Keren Bartov and make-up artist supreme Sofia Tilbury, as well as another beauty special of the SheerLuxe Show, fronted, of course, by Lisa Potter-Dixon.

There’s a new Business, Careers & Finance Edition later this month which has everything from tips for success from the founders of the coolest, most successful Scandi brand out there to advice for getting funding from the woman who sold a business for $53 million. Plus, we’ve teamed up with one of London’s most iconic shopping destinations for a street party at the end of the month – all will be revealed soon, but mark Saturday 27th July in your diaries to hang out with the team, watch the Olympics and shop some of your favourite brands with exclusive discounts.

I’ve yet to have more than two consecutive days off this year, so I’m excited for a real switch off in the last two weeks of this month. Our bucket list road trip includes stop-offs in Montana, Wyoming, Utah and – because it was convenient to fly home from, Vegas – which means packing an eclectic mix of hiking and horsey gear and, er, sparkles. I’ll save the details for next month’s letter but in the meantime, I’m looking for stylish, comfortable layers – taking inspo from Polly with this perfect summer evening Gap number, hardworking denim (so I can channel my best Yellowstone cowgirl) and fabulous swimwear from Baobab. Wish me luck fitting it all in.
