Air fryers use up to 75% less oil than conventional cooking methods and are much faster than regular fan ovens – making them ideal for making quick and healthy meals. From crispy cauliflower bites to sticky teriyaki salmon, here are nine recipes to try at home…

Chicken Fajita Salad

Ingredients
For The Marinade
2 tsp of olive oil
2 tsp of lime juice
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
2 tsp of smoked paprika
1 tsp of cumin
1 pinch of salt
For The Salad
450g of chicken breast or thighs
1 yellow pepper, cut into strips
1 red pepper, cut into strips
½ white onion, cut into thin strips
2 jalapeños, deseeded and sliced
1 romaine lettuce, chopped
1-2 avocados, sliced
A small bunch of coriander, chopped
200g of sour cream
1 lime, sliced into wedges
1 tsp of chilli flakes
Method
Step 1

In a small bowl, prepare the marinade by combining all the marinade ingredients together. Mix well.

Step 2

Coat the chicken pieces with the marinade and rest for 10 minutes, or up to 24 hours.

Step 3

Place the chicken pieces into the air fryer, being careful not to overcrowd. Cook on a high heat for 15-20 minutes, flipping over halfway.

Step 4

Add the peppers and onion to the air fryer in between the chicken pieces and cook for an additional 8-12 minutes, depending how big the chicken pieces are.

Step 5

Add the lettuce and coriander to a large bowl, and top with the cooked vegetables and avocado.

Step 6

Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes, then add it to the salad bowl. Top with dollops of sour cream and the lime, then sprinkle the chilli flakes over.

Asparagus With Chilli & Soy Sauce

Ingredients
400g of asparagus, ends trimmed
1 tsp of rapeseed oil
1 tsp of chilli flakes
1 tsp of soy sauce
Salt & pepper
Method
Step 1

Toss the asparagus in the oil until evenly coated, then season with a little salt and pepper.

Step 2

Layer the asparagus in the air fryer and cook for 7 minutes.

Step 3

Mix the soy sauce and chilli flakes in a bowl and set aside.

Step 4

Transfer the asparagus to a plate and sprinkle over the chilli dressing. Serve hot.

Vegan Cauliflower Wings

Ingredients
200g of panko breadcrumbs
1 ½ tsp of smoked paprika
½ tsp of garlic powder
½ tsp of onion powder
½ tsp of cayenne pepper
¼ tsp of salt
1 large egg
1 large cauliflower, cut into florets
Extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling
Lemon wedges, to serve
2 tbsp of sour cream, to serve
Method
Step 1

Mix all the dry ingredients together. In a shallow bowl, lightly beat the egg.

Step 2

Dip each cauliflower into the egg, coat with the panko mixture, then place onto a plate.

Step 3

Drizzle the cauliflower with a little olive oil and place into the air fryer basket in a single layer with a little space between each floret. Don’t overcrowd the basket. Work in batches if necessary.

Step 4

Cook them on a high heat for 9-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Repeat with the remaining cauliflower.

Step 5

Serve with lemon wedges and a dollop of sour cream.

Mexican Corn Ribs

Ingredients
4 corns on the cob
1 tsp of Mexican seasoning
½ tsp of garlic powder
½ tsp of smoked paprika
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp of salted butter
200g of feta, crumbled
A small bunch of coriander, chopped
½ lime, juiced
Method
Step 1

Rinse and clean the corn. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the corn into quarters, lengthways.

Step 2

Make sure the butter is at room temperature, then make a spread by adding in the Mexican seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika and salt.

Step 3

Spread the butter mixture over each corn riblet and place them in the air fryer. Cook for up to 15 minutes on a high heat until charred and crispy.

Step 4

Place the ‘ribs’ in a bowl and sprinkle over the feta and coriander, and squeeze over the lime juice. Serve warm.

Air Fryer Falafel

Ingredients
2 x 400g cans of chickpeas, rinsed & drained
1 small red onion, roughly chopped
3 garlic cloves, crushed
2 tbsp of lemon juice
1 tsp of smoked paprika
2 tsp of ground cumin
1 tsp of ground coriander
3 tbsp of nutritional yeast
1 tbsp of plain flour
Handful of parsley, chopped
Handful of coriander, chopped
Salt & pepper
Spray oil
Method
Step 1

Place the drained chickpeas in a food processor with the onion and garlic. Pulse for about 30 seconds until the chickpeas are nearly smooth.

Step 2

Add lemon juice, parsley, coriander, nutritional yeast, paprika, cumin, ground coriander, salt and pepper. Blend again until smooth and combined. Then stir in the flour.

Step 3

Take a tablespoon-sized scoop of the mixture and roll into a ball or form into patties. Repeat with the remaining mixture. It should make around 15 balls of falafel. Chill them in the fridge for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Lightly coat each falafel with spray oil. Working in batches, place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 12-13 minutes on a medium heat, flipping each one over halfway through. Serve hot.

Teriyaki Salmon

For The Teriyaki Sauce
85g of light brown sugar
70ml of light soy sauce
1 large garlic clove, crushed
4cm piece of ginger, peeled & finely grated
1 tbsp of rice wine vinegar
For The Salmon
2 salmon fillets
1 tbsp of toasted sesame seeds
1 spring onion, diced
Method
Step 1

To make the teriyaki sauce, mix all the ingredients together and simmer over a low heat for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.

Step 2

Pour the sauce over the salmon and marinade for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Line the air fryer with parchment paper and add the fish, skin-side down. Cook for 7- 9 minutes.

Step 4

Sprinkle over the toasted sesame seeds and spring onions to serve.

Crispy Tofu

1 pack of sprouted tofu, drained, not pressed
2 tbsp of nutritional yeast
2 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of cornflour
½ tsp of smoked paprika
½ tsp of chilli powder
½ tsp of salt
1 tsp of olive oil
Method
Step 1

Pat the tofu dry with a kitchen towel, being careful not to press down on it. Cut into 1in cubes.

Step 2

Add all the ingredients except the oil to a bowl. Toss together so the tofu is well coated.

Step 3

Add the oil to the bowl and toss again until everything is evenly coated.

Step 4

Add the tofu to the air fryer and cook for 15 minutes on a high heat, turning over once hallway through. Serve hot.

Mexican Prawns

1kg of jumbo prawns, deveined and cleaned
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 tsp of ground cumin
1 tsp of chilli powder
½ tsp of paprika
½ tsp of garlic powder
½ tsp of dried oregano
½ teaspoon of salt
¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
1 tablespoon of coriander, chopped
Method
Step 1

In a large bowl add the prawns, olive oil, cumin, chilli powder, paprika, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Toss well to coat and set aside to marinate for 15 minutes.

Step 2

Transfer the prawns into the air fryer basket. Cook on high for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket once halfway through.

Step 3

Sprinkle the coriander on top and serve.

Veggie Tacos

Ingredients
400g of cooked kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 white onion, peeled and thinly sliced
2 cloves of crushed garlic
300g of chopped tomatoes
½ red onion, peeled and thinly sliced
1 tsp of ground cumin
1 tsp of chilli powder
1 tsp of coriander seeds
100g of crumbled feta
Handful of fresh coriander, chopped
2 limes quartered
4 taco shells or tortillas
Salt & pepper
Method
Step 1

Line the air fryer with baking parchment. Place the kidney beans, onion, and garlic in the air fryer with the spices, salt and pepper. Cook for 20 minutes on a medium heat.

Step 2

Mix through the chopped tomatoes and set aside.

Step 3

Fill the tortillas/taco shells with the mixture and garnish with red onion rings, crumbled feta and chopped coriander.
