Giambattista Valli And H&M Announce New Collaboration

The announcement of H&M’s annual designer collaboration is the most anticipated fashion moment of the year, and the news yesterday that Giambattista Valli is joining forces with the brand for 2019 didn’t disappoint.

The high street label has a legacy of teaming up with some of the biggest names in fashion, with past collaborators including Isabel Marant, Moschino and Alexander Wang. However the announcement that this year’s partner will be Giambattista Valli is as surprising as it is exciting; one of the most respected couture houses in the industry, it’s opulent eveningwear that typifies the designer, not the ready-to-wear we’ve come to expect from H&M’s collabs.

What that means is an unexpected collection of the most luxurious eveningwear we’ve ever seen from a high street name. Valli’s signature feminine, tulle, tiered dresses have been translated into statement mini and maxi styles, sported last night at Cannes’ glamorous AmFar gala by top industry names, including supermodel Kendal Jenner and super-blogger Chiara Ferragni. And whilst the price point may not be cheap (pieces are £100 - £399) it’s certainly the closest many will get to the label’s decadent look.

The best bit? Unlike most years, you don’t have to wait until the end of the year to shop the collection – a selection of pieces will be available online and in 12 UK stores tomorrow, Saturday 25th May, before the full collection launches on November 7th – we recommend marking your diaries now.
