“We like our Christmas crackers to tie in with the overall aesthetic of the table, rather than stand out too much and become the first thing you see when you arrive at the table,” says Sophie Elliott of The Sette, a tableware brand offering beautiful festive linens and accessories.
“Crackers don't need to match the table perfectly, however, it does help if you can pick up on one or two colours from your linen, crockery or candles, as it helps bring everything together. If your table is a little busy in terms of print, opt for a simpler cracker, and if your table is more minimalist, then you can be more playful and choose something with a more intricate design.”
“It is worth spending a little more on your crackers if you can,” she adds. “Not only will the goodies inside be more useful, but the quality will add to your table display rather than cheapen it. Crackers are an easy way to make your table feel and look a little more festive, and they're also a great way to break the ice and help you have some fun."
