Eye Tint Liquid Shadow, £30 | Armani

Recommended By: Alex Reader, Make-Up Artist

“Not only does this formula last for hours, it doesn’t crease or flake either. I love the shape of the applicator; it’s so easy to use – especially if you’re often on-the-go. It provides a soft wash of colour, enough to lend shape and definition to the eye while smoothing out discolouration. It also acts as a great base for other shadows to adhere to. The colour is universally flattering as well.”

Cream Shadow Stick in 'Taupe', £29.50 | Bobbi Brown

Recommended By: Ashley Dayes, Make-Up Artist & Beauty Educator

“Eyeshadow doesn’t get easier than this. You just scribble these sticks on and blend them out with your fingers – they are so creamy and malleable. Plus, they dry fast and don’t crease. I love ‘taupe’ for a soft, daytime look. I’ve been enjoying using Victoria Beckham’s Kajal Liner in ‘Bronze', too. I smudge this onto the lids and a little into the lash line for a soft hint of definition. It doesn’t always have to be a traditional eyeshadow.”

Pro Longwear Paint Pot Eyeshadow, £16 (was £20) | MAC

Recommended By: Cat Parnell, Make-Up Artist & Hair Stylist

“This shade is a bestseller for a reason. Not only is it versatile – and very flattering – it’s a cream-based eyeshadow, so it’s easy to build up for extra depth and intensity. It adds a little dimension to the eye area, too – it doesn’t just look like eyeshadow, giving you that polished, groomed effect.”

Bigger, Brighter Eyes Palette, £45 | Charlotte Tilbury

Recommended By: Kelly Dawn Mitchell, Make-Up Artist

“This is the most-used palette in my kit. The colours have been designed with every eye shape, shade and skin tone in mind. The formulas are soft and smooth too, so they blend nicely and layer up well with pigments – plus, they don’t require a primer. I love the dusty rose tones – they are all so flattering and ideal for daytime when you want just a hint of something.”

Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder, £38 | Charlotte Tilbury

Recommended By: Olivia Rose, Make-Up Artist

“You don’t have to invest in lots of eyeshadows to create a nice daytime look. For example, I often use Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Bronzer over my lids. It’s so easy to build and blend out. When worn on the cheeks too, it really brings a look together. Just a little dusted over lids looks healthy and warm – as if you’ve been away and have that healthy, sunkissed look.”

Glitter Pigment, £22 | Bodyography

Recommended By: Katie Jane Hughes, Make-Up Artist & Brand Founder

“I recommend these pigments all the time. They transform any eyeshadow look into one that’s more dimensional and exciting. Though they are glitter, they can be layered up or kept sheer, which is ideal for daytime. It’s hard to pick a favourite shade, but ‘Tape (Off The Hook)’ is really flattering. They last for hours and can be built up for more intensity in the evening. They’re great if you like that wet-look sheen, too.”

Solo Shadow, £26 | Merit Beauty

Recommended By: Gemma Peace, Make-Up Artist & Beauty Influencer

“Like others on this list, this is smooth and soft so you can really work it onto your lids. The shade ‘Brun’ is very soft yet still sophisticated. It really sets off all eye colours and is the perfect shade of brown. You can either swipe it all over the lids, or take a thin brush to create a soft, diffused line. It’s so easy to work with and doesn’t budge once on. There are plenty of colours to choose from, but this is the most wearable for daytime.

Eye Colour Quad, £38.40 (was £48) | Clé De Peau Beauté

Recommended By: Naoko Sofia Patrizia Scintu, A-List Make-Up Artist

“This is the one palette I always recommend to my clients. It’s a luxury, but it will last you forever. The ‘303’ tones are perfect for a more natural yet sultry-looking eye but you can build up any the shades for a smokier finish. I always have one of these in my kit – it’s so versatile and wearable.”
