Treehouse Hotel Manchester

Treehouse Hotel London is one of our favourite hotels in the capital, so we were excited to hear the brand is opening a second property in Manchester. The eco-friendly hotel has 216 rooms featuring reclaimed and recycled materials, with colourful décor and playful touches like chalkboards and free-standing baths for two. Guests can visit the rooftop garden which has ‘living’ green walls, a kitchen garden which harvests rainwater and even a rooftop apiary that makes organic honey for your breakfast.

Art'otel London Battersea Power Station Powered by Radisson Hotels, London

One of the last openings in Battersea Power Station’s multimillion-pound development is Art’otel, an ultra-luxury hotel with 164 rooms, skyline views and a heated infinity rooftop pool looking out across the city. Jaime Hayon is behind the bold interiors, while Michelin-starred Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa will head up the kitchen at the JOIA restaurant.

1 Hotel Mayfair, London

1 Hotel Mayfair will soon open its doors on Berkeley Street, overlooking Green Park. With a focus on sustainability and luxury, there are 181 guest rooms and suites crafted from fallen trees from local parks. Destination restaurant Dovetale headed up by Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers will champion local, sustainable ingredients and have an adjoining cocktail bar. There will also be a fitness centre and Bamford Wellness spa on site.

Room2 Belfast

Room2 Chiswick was the world’s first net zero hotel. Now, the group is about to open in Belfast with innovative sustainable design across 175 en-suite studio apartments and rooms. There are Art Deco influences throughout the hotel, from the glamorous colour palette to retro-inspired furniture. Ideal for a city break, the hotel will also have a restaurant and bar and coffee shop.

Margate by GuestHouse Hotels

Margate is a having a moment, so we were excited to hear GuestHouse is set to open a property in a Victorian beachfront building, in keeping with the town’s unique, retro aesthetic. The brand’s in-house team are designing the interiors, so you can expect to see some signature soft colour palettes and plush furniture – as well as artwork from local artists. Guests will have a record player in each room, as well as a few books, beach towels and a beach bag. Look out for the brand’s next property in Brighton later this year, too.

The Mole Resort, Devon

If you’re planning a summer staycation by the coast, The Mole Resort is the new place in Devon to know about. The luxury lodge resort is set in 125 acres of countryside next to the River Mole, with Exmoor, Dartmoor and world-class beaches nearby. An initial 15 eco-friendly lodges will open this summer, with a further 58 opening later in the year. All have spacious outdoor decks with a dining table, hot tubs, fully equipped kitchens, and bright and light rooms. During a stay, guests can choose to self-cater or dine at the resort’s restaurants. Family friendly activities on offer include golf, swimming, tennis and cycling.

The BoTree, London

Preferred Hotels & Resorts – the group behind The Mark in NYC and Villa Cipriani in Italy – is set to open a new property in London. In between Marylebone and Mayfair, there will be 199 rooms and suites on each floor, with open-plan rooms and sliding panel doors for guests to customise spaces. Other highlights include a rooftop restaurant and bar with city views, a private screening room, and a live music and entertainment venue.

The Hobson Hotel, Cambridge 

Cambridge’s hotels get booked up quickly, so we were pleased to hear about this new boutique offering set to open on St Andrew’s Street. In a listed former Victorian police station, there are 56 minimalist rooms with Egyptian linen on each bed, blackout blinds and kitchenettes for snacks and quick breakfasts. There isn’t a restaurant or bar on site, but the hotel is conveniently located in the city centre.

Mollie’s Manchester

Mollie’s – the cool motel and diner from the creatives behind Soho House – is getting ready to open an outpost in Manchester. Rooms start from just £110 per night, and include the same luxuries you’d expect to find at a high-end hotel, like Hypnos mattresses, fluffy towels, Cowshed toiletries and Dyson hair tools. Guests can eat at the spacious American-style diner which will have a cocktail bar for live music, or sit outside on the heated terrace. The building’s top three floors will be home to Manchester’s first Soho House outpost, also set to open later this year.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park has been one of London’s top hotels for the last two decades. Later this year, the group will open a property in Mayfair’s Hanover Square. The interiors are glamourous and modern, with artwork by local British artists and rooms designed by Studio Indigo. This is in addition to 50 guest rooms with city views and all the extras you’d expect – fluffy towels and robes, room service and luxury toiletries. Michelin-starred chef Akira Back will oversee the hotel's food offering, which includes a ground floor restaurant, bar, and rooftop bar.

Hospitality group Habitas is about to open its second Moroccan property on the shores of Dakhla lagoon, one of the world’s best kitesurfing and windsurfing locations. Featuring traditional, minimalist design, there are 24 rooms to choose from – think riad-style spaces, modern villas and lodges. Guests can dine at the locally inspired restaurant and bar, swim in the outdoor pool, and book yoga classes at the wellness centre. Other highlights include an outdoor cinema for romantic evenings with a view, and an on-site kite school. Surfing, mountain biking, off-roading and other adventure activities are also available.

Cap Karoso, Indonesia

Set on the shores of a coral reef and surrounded by turquoise lagoons and traditional villages, Cap Karoso is an eco-friendly hotel on the Indonesian island of Sumba, an hour’s flight from Bali. Made for travellers who want a remote getaway, there are 47 rooms and 20 villas surrounded by a seven-acre organic farm where local growers and guests can learn about biological farming. You can also swim and snorkel in the nearby lagoon, take part in yoga and meditation classes, and relax at the Sumbanese house spa. There’s also a laid-back beach club and a kids’ club.

The Peninsula Istanbul, Turkey

This ambitious opening is set along the banks of the Bosphorus in Istanbul’s historic Karaköy district. Spread across four separate protected buildings within walking distance of several historic landmarks, there are 177 spacious rooms and suites – some with balconies and terraces, others with access to gardens and the outdoor pool. Turkish influences can be found throughout the property, from the kilim-style carpets to lavish marble bathrooms. If you’re not staying overnight, visit the rooftop restaurant for Turkish-Asian cuisine and beautiful views.

Rosewood Munich, Germany  

Rosewood’s first German property is spread across two historic buildings: the former headquarters of the State Bank of Bavaria and an adjacent former grand aristocratic residence. Just a short walk from the Marienplatz square, there will be 132 spacious rooms and suites built around the building’s grand stairways, all with plush interiors and neutral colours. Elsewhere you’ll find a restaurant, bar, and spa with an indoor pool.

Ikos Odisia, Greece 

All-inclusive resort group Ikos will open its sixth hotel in Corfu this May. Set next to the secluded, protected Dassia Bay, the resort comprises 60 acres of land, from lush gardens to a small private beach. Here, it’s all about relaxation and making the most of the resort, with its five à la carte restaurants, ten swimming pools with ‘waterside service’ so you can order drinks and snacks to your beach bed, and the spa with a heated indoor/outdoor pool, steam room and sauna. Families will be entertained with the kids’ club, extensive activity list and evening entertainment.

For a once-in-a-lifetime trip, the Masai Mara Lodge in Kenya is situated on the banks of the River Talek. One of the most impressive buildings on this list, the new Six Senses in Italy’s capital is housed in a Unesco-listed, 18th-century palazzo next door to the historic San Marcello al Corso church. Renowned designer Patricia Urquiola is behind the interiors which are glamorous yet understated, featuring Italian-designed furniture and neutral tones to blend in with the city’s famous architecture. There are 96 rooms plus an impressive rooftop floor with panoramic city views, an all-day restaurant and a secret yoga garden.

Maroma: A Belmond Hotel, Mexico

Maroma is about to reopen its doors after an extensive renovation that’s added ten new waterfront suites. The hotel is surrounded by 200 acres of lush tropical jungle on Mexico’s Caribbean coastline where you can explore the turquoise waters and relax on the beach. Redesigned by designer Tara Bernerd, the new suites are inspired by local Mexican craftsmanship with private or plunge pools and rooftop terraces. Elsewhere, redesigned suites are light and bright with artisanal decorative accents. There’s also a Guerlain spa (the first in Latin America) a Mexican restaurant and a casual bar which will serve mezcal while live DJs amp up the vibes.

Vermelho, Portugal

Christian Louboutin takes his winter holidays in Melides, the fashionable beach town just south of Comporta. This spring, the designer will open Vermelho, meaning red in Portuguese – a nod to the iconic soles of his shoes. The hotel is small and incredibly stylish with just 13 rooms and some of the best interiors on this list, all inspired by local artists and tastemakers. Then there’s the Xtian restaurant which will showcase the best produce from the region, all served on local artisanal tableware with Atlantic views.

One&Only is about to launch its first property in Greece. Set on the dramatic Athenian riviera in Glyfada, the hotel is a 30-minute drive from the centre of Athens – ideal for a couple of nights in the city before a relaxing beach holiday on a private seafront. There are 127 rooms, ranging from beachfront rooms to private villas – all with minimalist décor and beautiful views. Highlights include a beach club, spa and an endless activity programme for kids and adults.
