The New Openings To Know In Shoreditch
FOR BOTTOMLESS LASAGNE:
Senza Fondo
Bottomless lasagne is the name of the game at this fun restaurant on Rufus Street. Chef-owner Joe Worthington (who has given himself the official title of Chief Béchamel Officer) has created a menu of crowd-pleasing Italian American dishes, including all-you-can-eat lasagne for £20pp. You can also order stacks of mortadella with pistachio, fettuccine alfredo, lasagna-style pizzette and a selection of specials, from aubergine parmigiana to grilled ribs with beef jus. Off-menu dishes like burnt lasagna ends are available on request. Your first negroni (before food) is £5, while hearty desserts include tiramisu, apple pie and olive oil gelato – just a few reasons why it’s fully booked for the foreseeable.

FOR MARTINIS & FRIES:
One Club Row
Martinis are having a moment (read our trend report here), and new spot One Club Row is all about enjoying them with oysters for a fun night with friends. Set to open on 9th April, it’s headed up by one of the capital’s coolest restaurant trios: chef Patrick Powell, James Dye and Benjy Leibowitz (collectively behind spots like Midland Grand Dining Room and Allegra). One Club Row will occupy a dining room above the trio’s Knave of Clubs pub. It’s all inspired by NYC’s old-school hospitality, so diners can expect cocktail towers, a house pianist, live jazz and classic bistro dishes. Dinner could look like roasted scallops with garlic butter, followed by lobster tagliatelle and twice-baked chocolate cake for dessert.

FOR INDIAN DISHES:
Kricket
Regular SL readers will know the lifestyle team love Kricket for its affordable Indian dishes and zingy cocktails, so we’re pleased the group recently opened out east. The 80-cover restaurant serves Kricket’s signature dishes, while the 50-seat Kafé and bar is where you can drop by for breakfast, street food-inspired snacks and cocktails. The interiors are chic – think pink and terracotta tones, a wrap-around bar and signature corrugated walls. Book a table for Sunday lunch to try dishes like whole charcoal-grilled tandoori chicken or charcoal-grilled leg of lamb, served family style with kebabs, black garlic and dried chilli raita, breads and salads.

FOR A GREAT SET MENU:
Bôné
You might have spotted this cool spot doing the rounds on social media – with its stainless-steel serve ware, white linens and low-lighting, this is as on-trend as it gets. Bôné is a 20-cover restaurant that’s only open at weekends, when diners visit for its £40 three-course set menu. Much like Le Relais De Venise l'Entrecôte, there’s only one menu on offer: milk bread with French butter, followed by short rib or salmon with unlimited fries and Paris butter. Dessert could be French toast with vanilla custard, chocolate basque cheesecake, strawberry tres leches or pistachio tiramisu.

FOR DATE NIGHT:
Bar Valette
If your idea of a romantic evening looks like sharing small plates with orange wine with your SO, book a table at Bar Valette, the latest project from the team behind the Clove Club. Sit at the bar or nab a seat at one of the few tables, draped with crisp cloths and illuminated by candlelight. The menu has Spanish and French influences, with dishes like crab tarts, croquettes, snails with trotter broth and chorizo, turbot with wild garlic sauce, and stuffed rabbit legs. Dessert could be gateau basque or crème brûlée, while the wine list features bottles from small European producers.

FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT:
Tatar Bunar
Tatar Bunar, a Ukrainian restaurant from Alex Cooper and Anna Andriienko, opens on Curtain Road on 9th April. Named after Alex’s hometown, the restaurant offers a menu inspired by family traditions, using recipes from Alex’s mother and led by chef Kate Tkachuk. Signature dishes include varenyks (dumplings), plachinda pastry, bourscht soup, and cottage cheese crème brûlée varenyk, with a focus on ingredients from the Bessarabia region. The space is designed with natural tones and reclaimed materials from Ukraine. Anna will manage the restaurant while Alex remains in Ukraine during the ongoing conflict.
