3 London Hotels For A Luxury Minibreak

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or want to treat yourself to a minibreak in the capital, The Doyle Collection has three luxury hotels that fit the bill. As well as offering excellent service, great restaurants, and activities for the whole family, they’re all within walking distance of some of London’s best attractions and have some of the best interiors in the capital too. Here’s what you need to know…

Created in partnership with THE DOYLE COLLECTION

The Kensington

In the centre of South Ken’s cultural quarter, The Kensington is just a short walk from the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the V&A. It’s both glamorous and elegant – guests are welcomed with open fires and traditional interiors that nod to its location. You can stay in a range of rooms and luxurious suites, all of which have grand décor and spacious bathrooms with walk-in showers or freestanding baths you can sink into. Around the hotel, you’ll find numerous spots to hunker down with a book or catch up with friends, as well as friendly staff who can help with everything from theatre tickets to dinner reservations.

Food & Drink

The hotel’s restaurant Town House serves breakfast through to dinner in its elegant dining room. Expect to tuck into modern British dishes, or there’s afternoon tea featuring a selection of pastries, scones, and fine teas – the perfect treat after a day of shopping. Guests can also visit The K Bar for cocktails and nightcaps as well as bar snacks. It’s got an extensive wine list too.

Facilities & Extras

Best of all, the hotel’s partnership with the V&A provides exclusive tickets to sold-out exhibitions, like the Gabrielle Chanel one. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and will be treated to comfy beds, blankets, dog grooming and more.

For Kids

Families are well catered for in family rooms with tipis, and there’s a bespoke children’s VIP turndown service which includes special extras such as milk and cookies. The hotel’s proximity to family friendly attractions like the Natural History Museum makes it a no-brainer for a family staycation.

Rooms from £455 per night.

The Bloomsbury

A great choice for any occasion, The Bloomsbury is in a historic and beautifully restored Lutyens 1930s neo-Georgian building on Great Russell Street. Within walking distance of Soho and Covent Garden, its prime location offers guests easy access to over 39 theatres and a range of dining and shopping options, though you’ll want to spend time at two SL favourites – The Coral Room and Dalloway Terrace. Room-wise, doubles to spacious suites feature a mix of art-deco accents, period features and contemporary design. Luxe velvet furniture and bold wallpaper add to its unique feel.

Food & Drink

Thanks to an indoor/outdoor concept with retractable roof and walls, Dalloway Terrace can be enjoyed year-round. It’s freshly decorated each season, and this summer there’s a floral installation, with special cocktails from Silent Pool Gin. Food is available throughout the day, and the brunch menu is not to be missed – a two or three-course affair that features dishes such as a banana split with coconut yoghurt; smoked haddock hash with poached egg and saffron mayo; buttermilk pancakes with crispy bacon; and lobster rolls.

Elsewhere, The Coral Room, with its grand design and vibrant décor, is renowned for its cocktails – perfect for pre-theatre drinks or a nightcap. Designed by Martin Brudnizki, the bar blends modern furniture with geometric motifs. Guests can tuck into breakfast and lunch, as well as inventive cocktails like the ‘Tipsy Yellaman’, made with Ciroc vodka, Riesling cordial, Peach Nonino grappa and white verjuice. Then there’s The Bloomsbury Club Bar, a late-night venue which hosts regular live music performances.

Facilities & Extras

There’s a fitness centre, a nightly turn-down service and 24-hour room service. Staff are friendly and go the extra mile to ensure you have a great stay. Guests can also take advantage of The Bloomsbury’s partnership with the Donmar Warehouse, enjoying access to sold-out shows.

For Kids

Little ones can look forward to in-room tipis, treasure hunts and mini bathrobes. Meanwhile, parents will appreciate the babysitting service and kid-friendly menus at the restaurants, including Dalloway Terrace’s new afternoon tea for children featuring a selection of miniature cakes and treats.

Rooms from £430 per night.

The Marylebone

Set in the centre of the village and loved by locals, The Marylebone hotel offers serious R&R close to the bustling West End. Like the group’s other properties, the hotel’s stylishly designed guest rooms and suites are modern, art-filled spaces. Our pick would be one of the rooftop terrace suites, with their plush sofas, outdoor fireplaces and TVs, as well as spacious living areas that lead onto the bedrooms.

Food & Drink

Breakfast, lunch or dinner at 108 Brasserie is always a good idea. The all-day dining spot serves everything from weekend brunch to afternoon tea and Sunday roasts. There’s even a Bloody Mary trolley where you can customise your own drinks. The brasserie regularly works with alcohol brands for cocktail specials, and screens sporting events like Wimbledon. During a leisurely weekend, stop for drinks at The Cocktail Bar – inspired by New York’s drinking dens, it’s home to velvet furniture and moody interiors. We recommend the ‘Immortal’ cocktail, made with Sesame Oil Roku gin, Choya umeshu, citrus demerara and matcha nectar, and egg white.

Facilities & Extras

Hotel guests can enjoy complimentary access to Third Space Marylebone, a state-of-the-art gym featuring an 18m swimming pool, high-tech fitness equipment, and a variety of exercise classes.

For Kids

There’s a babysitting service, mini menus at 108 Brasserie, and a children’s concierge service to help with toiletries, night-time cookies and milk, and more. Little ones can also play boardgames and look forward to a gift upon arrival. Regent’s Park is a short walk away.

Rooms from £415 per night.
