THE LUXURY HOTEL:

Maxx Royal Resort Bodrum

Maxx Royal Resorts has a number of luxury properties across Turkey, and its latest project is the one we’re most excited to visit. Located along the peninsula’s northern shores, it’s surrounded by nearly 30 acres of land. Designed by Turkish architect Mahmut Anlar, the beachside hotel is built into the hillside and has several accommodation options, all with private balconies and terraces with views of the Aegean. Rooms are filled with natural materials, like stone and marble, and feature accents made by local artisans, including hand glazed tiles, ceramics, handwoven rugs and artwork. Food is a highlight, too, with a restaurant headed up by chef Wolfang Puck, plus other casual eateries. The hotel is also home to a 4,500sq m wellness area and spa, the Maxxi Land children’s club (now the largest in the region), and Scorpios – the adjoining beach club with its own set of luxury bungalows.

THE BEACH CLUB:

Scorpios

This month, one of Mykonos’ best beach clubs arrives in Bodrum. The Soho House-owned outpost has 12 bungalows with private pools and space for hosting guests – each one has neutral tones, luxe furniture and sprawling gardens with sun loungers. The sharing menu includes Mediterranean options that focus on simplicity and use traditional grilling techniques. Signature dishes include ezme, minced lamb kebabs and cig kofte made with bulgar. There’s also a selection inspired by Turkey’s street-food culture, such as Turkish pita, and simit (sesame bagels). Each week, guests can expect a diverse line-up of live artists and performers, including a residency from Turkish act Valeron and his band on Wednesdays, a night of new Latin American artists on Thursdays, and a showcase of the best local Turkish acts and DJs on Saturday nights. Fridays and Sundays are reserved for Scorpios’ famous Ritual, just as in Mykonos.

THE VILLAS:

Bodrum Loft

Set in a quiet corner to the south of Bodrum’s coastline, Bodrum Loft is home to 36 villas with views of the Aegean. Guests can expect amenities and services you’d get at a five-star hotel, including landscaped gardens and a sprawling outdoor pool, fine-dining restaurants with world-renowned chefs, private in-villa catering, and a fitness centre and spa. There’s also a beach club on a private stretch of beach at Demirbükü Bay, known for its sparkling waters. Diners can eat at Ters Köse, which is new for the season. The 40-cover Turkish seafood restaurant is inspired by local villages surrounding the resort and serves fish, mezze platters and towering jugs of cocktails. If that wasn’t enough, guests can book everything from private boat trips to tours of the local sites.

THE ALL-INCLUSIVE OPENING:

Hyde Bodrum

If you want to switch off, relax and have everything taken care of, Hyde (part of the Ennismore group) has opened an all-inclusive, adults-only hotel in Bodrum. Sandwiched between the beach and the peninsula’s national parks, the hotel has a cool beach club, an outdoor pool lined with white and green umbrellas, and five bars and restaurants. Like all of Hyde’s design-led properties, rooms and suites are minimally designed, with modern bathrooms and thoughtful extras, like beach sliders and tote bags. There’s also a luxe two-bed villa, plus more spacious suites with private swim-up pools. Guests can tuck into French classics at La Rebelle, light bites at the pool bar, and coffee and cocktails at Sun & Moon.

THE PARTY RESTAURANT:

The Maine Bodrum

Following openings in London, Dubai and Ibiza, The Maine has opened an outpost at Maxx Royal Bodrum Resort. The 150-cover restaurant brings the group’s fun hospitality offering to the city – with crowd-pleasing dishes, tasty cocktails and live entertainment. There’s a hot and hold bar offering sharing starters, pastas, seafood and grilled meats, with dishes like seabass ceviche, tomato carpaccio, chargrilled artichokes, lobster taglioni, and grain-fed steak cuts, all accompanied by a broad selection of international wines. Diners can look forward to daily live entertainment that flows into the evening, when DJs take to the decks.

THE MICHELIN-STARRED SPOT:

Kitchen at The Bodrum Edition

It doesn’t get better than The Bodrum Edition, which has stunning views of the Aegean Sea, a huge infinity pool with chic sun loungers and rooms with private pools, balconies and gardens. Earlier this year, one of its restaurants, Kitchen, received a Michelin star. Headed up by chef Osman Sezener, the restaurant offers an international take on Turkish cuisine, showcasing the very best produce the country has to offer, from world-class honey to the freshest seafood. The team uses herbs found in the hotel’s gardens, truffle from the country’s foraging regions, and local produce in its zero-waste cocktails.
