The Great British Bake Off, Channel 4

It's biscuit week and there's a trip Stateside for the bakers in the signature as they make American-style cookies. In the technical, it's a journey of a different kind as they travel back in time for a nostalgic classic. But nothing is quite as it seems and they must rely on their taste alone to recreate this beloved bake. And in the showstopper, a visually striking biscuit mosaic tests the bakers' artistic flair and also gives them the chance to create something that's close to their hearts.

East Of Eden, Netflix

John Steinbeck’s sweeping family saga gets a glossy new adaptation, with Florence Pugh taking on one of the novel’s most complicated characters, Cathy Ames. Created by Zoe Kazan, the seven-part series follows the Trask and Hamilton families across generations in California’s Salinas Valley, exploring love, rivalry, ambition and the darker side of the American dream. Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist play brothers Adam and Charles Trask, while Ciarán Hinds and Hoon Lee also star. There’s an added bit of Hollywood history here too: Kazan’s grandfather, Elia Kazan, directed the famous 1955 film adaptation starring James Dean.

American Horror Story: 13, Disney+

Three more episodes of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s horror anthology drop today. Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange are among the returning cast, reprising fan-favourite roles from across the series. The story centres on Ben, a new hospice worker whose job caring for a wealthy elderly patient leads him into a much darker world, while familiar faces from Murder House, Coven, Hotel and Cult begin to resurface. With more half-hour episodes arriving in the run-up to Halloween, this is one for long-time fans and anyone after something seriously creepy.

Claudia Winkleman welcomes a brand-new group of celebrities as they arrive at a beautiful castle in the Highlands to play the ultimate reality game of detection, back-stabbing and trust in aid of their chosen charities. The next Colleen Hoover adaptation is here. The author’s bestselling thriller arrives on the big screen with Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett leading the cast. WAR, Sky Atlantic

If you’re in the mood for a glossy new legal drama, War brings together a seriously strong cast, led by Sienna Miller and Dominic West.
