Doctor Odyssey, Disney +
Fresh off the controversy surrounding his Netflix series Monsters, Ryan Murphy returns with this new series, which trades true crime melodrama for a medical procedural set on a luxury cruise liner filled with accident-prone passengers. Fortunately, the suave Dr. Max (Joshua Jackson) is ready to save the day – when he’s not caught up in a steamy affair with one of his colleagues, of course.

The Room Next Door
Adapted from Sigrid Nunez’s cult-favourite novel What Are You Going Through?, The Room Next Door is acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar’s first English-language film – and it has a powerhouse cast. Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) used to be joined at the hip in their youth, working together at New York magazine. However, their paths diverged: Ingrid pursued a career as a novelist, while Martha became a war reporter. After years out of touch, the two reunite under bittersweet circumstances: Martha is dying, and she wants Ingrid to help her go. Touching and nuanced, it’s the kind of close-quarters cinema that reminds audiences to hold the ones they love close.
