This simmering adaptation of Deborah Levy’s bestselling novel is a hypnotic, heat-hazed meditation on motherhood, desire and power. Directed by Rebecca Lenkiewicz (She Said), Hot Milk follows Sofia (played by Sex Education’s Emma Mackey), who finds herself stuck in a small Spanish beach town with her controlling, ailing mother (Fiona Shaw). As they search for a miracle cure, Sofia falls under the spell of two enigmatic figures – a charismatic doctor and an alluring traveller, Ingrid (Vicky Krieps).
